Description

DESIGN FOR A LADYS COSTUME.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JENNIE SHEILS, OF NElV YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR TO THE BUTTERICK PUBLISHING COMPANY, (LIMITED,) OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A LADYS COSTUME.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 18,305, dated May 8, 1888.
Application filed April 5., 1888. Serial No. 269,379. Term of patent 35 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, JENNIE SHEILS, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Pattern of a Ladys Costume; and I do hereby declare that the engraved prints accompanying this specification convey to any one accustomed to using paperpatterns a clear understanding of how a garment made up by the pattern will appear.
The design shows a basque and a round walkingskirt. The skirt cxhibitsa full front drapery having a cluster of shirrings below the right hip; a tablier falling in oval outline nearly to the foot of the skirt, revealing the front drapery to the belt at the right side, extending with the effect of a deep lap across the left hip, and displaying draping plaits at the belt; a full center back drapery exhibiting a deep cluster of shirrings at the top, and full side back draperies displaying draping plaits in the side edges and a fullness at the top. The basque exhibits close-fitting fronts opening above the bust over a full chemisette that displays shirrings at the neck, yoke-pieces on the fronts, a close-fitting back that displays an underfolded double box plait at the end of its center scam, a standing collar, and coat-sleeves.
What Iolaim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for aladys costume, as shown in the engraved prints accompanying this specification.
JENNIE SHEILS.
