lDESIGN FOR A LADYS COSTUME.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 18.321, dated May 15. 1888.
Application lcd April QI), 188B- Seriel No. 271,349. Term of paient 3i years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, JENNIE SHEILs,` of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented and produced a newand original Design for a Pattern of a Ladys Costume; and I do hereby declare that the engraved prints accompanying this specitcation convey to any one accustomed to using paper patterns a. clear understanding of how a garment made up by the pattern will appear.
The design shows a round walking-skirt and a basque. The skirt displays a flat drapery falling in deep kilt plaits in front and with a panel effect between and at either Side ofthe plaitsin each side,and exhibiting pointed straps crossing between the latter plaits in groups of three; a full front drapery graduating in depth from the right edge near the belt to the lower edge at the left side, and displaying draping plaits in its right side edge and in the top and jabot folds at its front edge, the right edge disappearing under the fourth kilt plait from the center; a full back drapery falling in jabot folds at its center and iu loose folds ateither side. The basqnedisplaysa V-vest between closelftting fronts, th ree` pointed straps crossing diagonally above the bust; a close* fitting back falling in a flat postiliou that is open at the center; coat sleeves, and a standing collar with a pointed overlapping end.
