DESIGN FOR A LADYS COSTUME.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design N0. 18.171. dated March 6,1888.
Applicntionled January l1, 1888. Serial No. 260,448. Term of patent 35 years.
To all whom it may concern.:
Be it known that I, JENNIE SHEILs, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented and produced a newand original De- 5 sign for a Pattern of aLadys Costume; and I do hereby declare that the engraved prints accompanying this specification convey to any one accustomed to using paper patterns aclear understanding of how a garment made up by 1o the pattern will appear.
The design shows a basque and round walking-skirt. The skirt displays a plain front panel having three pointed strapextensions, which lap upon upright plaits in a panel at x5 either side, a short round tablier upon the front panel displaying plaits in its side edges and pointed straps extending upon it from under either side panel, and a full back drapery that falls even with the edge all across and exhibits two loopngs at the center near the 2o top. `The basque displays the right front lapping diagonally npon theleft and shaping two pointed straps above the bust, a close'tting back that displays the center seam terminating at the top of an underfolded box-plait, and 25 the side backs lapping upon the lower part of the hack skirt, coat-sleeves with strap ornaments at the wrists, and a standing collar.
What I claim as my invention, and desi re to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for a ladys costume, as shown in the engraved prints accompanying this speciiication.
