Description
n7 65 OF D 12v102 Design No. 12.102, dated January 4, 1881.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
THEODORE II. ROBERTS AND CHARLES VVIFFLA, OF DETROIT, MICHIGAN, ASSIGNORS TO MICHIGAN STOVE COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A STOVE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 12,102, dated January 4, 1881. Application filed August 30, 1880. Term of patent at years.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that we, TI-IEono'nn H. ltonnu'rs and CHARLES WIFFLA, citizens of the United States, residing at Detroit, in the county of Wayne and State of Michigan, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Stoves, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying photographic illustrations, forming a part thereof.
Heretofore stoves have been made which presented the general outlines of our device, but which differ materially in the more minute lines and ornamentation, as shown in our accompanyin g illustrations.
A represents the foot-section. Immediately above the foot proper, and cast with it, is a plate extending either way from the center, with raised ornamentations, as shown, and
with the emblem G in the center. B represents intermediate plates, and are ornamented as shown. These plates or sections A B are formed in segments ofacircle, and are properly joined together at their meeting ends, forming an independent base, which is provided with an inwardly-projecting flange, upon which the base of the stove rests.
0 represents the base proper, which is formed with a nearly vertical rise, surmounted 0 by a narrow flat, above which is a quarterround section surmounted by an ogee and a flat.
O represents a name-plate, upon which is cast the name of the manufacturing firm, and
5 this plate is made to conform to and lit the ogee of the base; or, if desired, such plate may be dispensed with and the name be cast directly upon the ogee.
. D represents the doors of the ash-pit section. These doors are provided with asunken panel, as shown, and in these panels are the usual draft-openings and slides. These doors and the plates forming the sides and rear of the ash-pit section are ornamented, as shown in the illustration, and the doors are secured to such plates by the outhanging ornamental hinges, as shown.
F represents the three doors which form a part of the fire-pot section, usually termed the lower mica doors, secured to such section by the ornamental outhanging hinges, as shown. Each one of these doors is provided with three nearly square openings, designed to be filled with mica, and at the corners there is an engraved sunken ornamentation and a raised 5 head around each o 'iening. This section is separated from the ash-pit section by the ringplate E, formed with a very nearly vertical edge surmounted by a fiat and round, and a similar ring-plate, G, separates the fire-pot section from the combustion-chamber section H, wherein are shown three doors, each of which is divided into live illuminating-sections, three below and two above, as shown, attached to the section by means of outhanging hinges, 6 the style of ornamentation being similar to that upon the lower mica section, hereinbefore described.
I is a ring-plate separating the combustion chamber from the magazine-section. This ring has a nearly vertical plain edge, surmounted by an ornamentally-perforated flat of open cut-work, and in which is formed the name and number of the stove.
K represents the magazine-section, consisting of four plates or staves, the seams at their meeting ends being flush upon the outer face.
J are panels, which are secured to the magazine-section, concealing the scams or joints thereof, and are ornamented with a central 8c emblem, G, and the ornamentation in relief, as shown. Between these panels J the exposed face of the magazine-section is ornamented by the engraved design and line-ornamentations, as shown.
L is a stave-section top ring, made in curved lines, and surmounts the magazine-section.
M is the top, and N the cap, and these parts are formed with the curves, reverse curves, ogees, rounds, and flats, as shown. The cap is surmounted by an urn, N. The urn proper is nearly in the shape of an inverted cone with out-projecting and ornamentally-perforated wings upon the right and left, as shown, and the emblem G upon the front and rear 5 faces of the body of the urn, and the whole is surmounted by a vase, O.
The rear plate, P, of the combustion-chamber section is in curved form in horizontal cross-section, and ornamented, as shown, and zoo the rear plate, Q, of the fire-pot; section is of curved form in vertical and cross sectioinnnd ornamented with sunken panel and lines, as shown.
To the top 11, and over the sznne, is placed a plain polished ring, 1%.
VVhnt we claim the our invention and design is- 1. The configurz'ttion, outline, and ornamentation of the legsection A, with the initinl letter thereon, as shown.
2. The ornmnentation of the ash-pit section and doors I).
3. The orimnlentation of the doors F of the fire-pot section.
4. The ornmnentation of the doors H of the combustiolrchnmber section.
5. The design of the plates K of the magszine-section, ornamented as shown.
(5. The design and ornamentation 0f the plates J, with the central initial letter, as shown.
7. The design for It stove-urn, N, as shown and described.
8. The form and ornulnenttttion ol' the plates l, which form the rempart of the con'ibnstion-chznnher section.
9. The form and ormtnientntion olthe plates which form the rear of the lire-pot section, its shown.
10. The form, outline, configumtion, and ormnnenlzttion of a. stove, consisting of the sections A, plates B, hose 0, doors 1), ringplute E, doors F, ring-plate Ur, doors H, ring,- plnte 1, panels J, magazine-section K, sieveseotion top ring L, top M, nrn N, vase 0, rear plntes P'and Q, and ring 1%, as described and shown.
