DESIGN FOR STOVES.

Specification forming part of Design No. 10,852, dated October 1, 1878; application filed August ll, 187 [Term of patent 7 years] To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, ALLAN T. BENNETT, of Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have originated and designed a Pattern or Configuration for Open-Front Stoves, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the ac companying printed illustration, making a part of this specification.

A represents the base of the stove, and B the body. The body has an open front, to expose the fuel, and is set far back upon the base to form a hearth. 0n the sides of the body are vertical half-columns. The front corners of the body are beveled, and sunken in the faces thus formed are niches, the lower parts of which are iuclosed by hollow half-cylindrical guards resting on eorbels or brackets.

The front of the stove is outwardly curved, which form, in connection with the beveled corners, gives an oval or curvilinear appearance to the stovefront. G is the top or cap of the stove. The central part of the top is considerably higher than the remaining part, and the top gradually declines from the center, in curved lines, until it terminates on a cornice on the body of the stove.

D is a dome, and E its base. The base E rests on the elevated or central part of the top 0, and on the dome may be an urn. The urn will be rendered light and graceful in appearance if it be made to have the resemblance of being open or perforated at frequent intervals; but it need not actually consist of open-work unless to allow heat to escape from within, a provision sometimes essential in stoves of this class.

F is a pediment in front of the base E; and G is an urn on the said pediment.

The surfaces of the stove most exposed to view may have thereon various tracings or ornamentation, but as neither these nor the pediment F and its urn materially aflect the general appearance of the stove, although they may be employed when much ornamentation is desired, 1 do not intend to be restricted to them, my object herein being to prevent the copying of the essential features of my design.

Having thus described my design, what I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

A design for openfront stoves, the said design consisting of a projecting base, an open swell-front body, the front meeting beveled corners, and a top surmounted by a dome, all having a form or configuration substantially the same as herein described.
