Specification forming part of Design No. 5,448, dated December 26, 1871.

To all whom it may concern:

Beit known that I, LUTHER W. HARWooD, of the city of Troy, in the county of Rensselaer and ,State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Cooking-Ranges or Stoves, of which the following is a specifica ,tion, reference being had to the accompanying lsheet of photographs, in Which- Figures 1 and 2 represent different views of a range having my said design.

Like letters indicate similar parts in both figures.

One part of my rinvention is the design for the front plate A and end plates B U, as distinguished by the row of ornameutations d, shaped and arranged along theoutwardly-curved upper portion of said plate orplates so as to appear substantial] y as represented in the aforesaid photographs.

Another part of my invention is the design for the compound ornalnentalborder molding E, as distinguished by the corrugated outer surface f, the inner row of pointed projections g, and the intermediate portion h, all shaped and arranged together so as to present substantially the same appearance as is shown in the aforesaid photographic representation.

Another part of my invention is the combination ofthe border-molding E and a pendent ornament or ornaments, I, with or without an intervening moldin g, J, Fig. 1, all shaped and arrangedtogether so as to appear substantially as shown in the aforesaid photographs.

Another part of my present invention is the design for the grate-shank door K, substantially as shown in the aforesaid representations.

Another part of my invention consists in the ornamentation of a plate of a stove or range by means ofthe Words Hot-BlastRange, composed of letters all shaped and 'arranged together in a curved line upon the plate, so as to appear substantially as represented in Fig. 2 of the photographs.

Vtrhat I claim as my present invention isl. The design for the front plate A and end plates B O, as herein speciiied.

2. The design for the molding E, as described 3. The combination of the border-molding E and pendent panel ornament or ornaments I, with or without an intervening molding, J, as herein set forth.

4. The design for the grate-shank door K, as described.

5. The Words Hot-Blast Ran ge, composed of letters shaped and arranged together on a plate of a stove or range in the ornamental manner herein described.
