Abstract

Un proceso para separar un oxido de propileno purificado de un producto de epoxidacion crudo producido, preferentemente en una reaccion de epoxidacion de propileno con peroxido de hidrogeno. El proceso implica eliminar el agua a granel, metanol a granel, y el propileno sin reaccionar del producto de epoxidacion crudo y despues de ello someter el producto de oxido resultante a una destilacion extractiva con agua como solvente de extraccion. Bajo condiciones de destilacion, incluyendo una temperatura de fondo mayor que aproximadamente 55degree C y menor que aproximadamente 75degree C, se obtiene un flujo de corte lateral o de sobrecarga de destilado que contiene un oxido de propileno purificado con una perdida de rendimiento baja de oxido de propileno a glicoles de propileno y otros bombardeos pesados de glicol. El oxido de propileno purificado puede purificarse adicionalmente en una destilacion de terminado para obtener un oxido de propileno que cumple requisitos de pureza de grado comercial.
