Abstract
En la presente se provee un vehículo catalizador que contiene sulfato de bario. El vehículo catalizador es útil para soportar un catalizador de purificación e gas de escape, tal como un catalizador de conversión de tres vías. En una modalidad, el vehículo comprende BaSO4/alúmina térmicamente estable. Además se provee un proceso para preparar el vehículo catalizador, con o sin metales preciosos, que comprende tratar un óxido de bario/carbonato de alúmina o bario/ alúmina con una cantidad estequiométrica de ácido sulfúrico (H2SO4), formando así BaSO4/alúmina in situ con buen rendimiento y a bajo costo.
