Abstract
Un método y aparato para producir amoníaco que es apropiado para utilizar como reductor en un sistema de reducción catalítica selectiva (SCR), reducción catalítica no selectiva (SNCR), o de acondicionamiento de gases de escape. Un método para tratar con amoníaco los gases de escape de una combustión que incluye la hidrólisis electrolítica de urea en condiciones suaves. El aparato de electrólisis incluye una celda electrolítica 1 que incluye un ánodo 3, un cátodo 4, y una composición electrolítica alcalina de urea 6, que se pueden acoplar de manera operativa a un sistema de tratamiento gases de escape para proveer un aparato para reducir los óxidos de nitrógeno (NOX) y/o particulados en los gases de escape.
