Abstract

La presente invención está relacionada con un proceso para reducir la cantidad de componentes orgánicos del agua, en donde un carbonato de calcio natural reaccionado en superficie y un adsorbente hidrofóbico, seleccionado del grupo que consiste de talco, carbonato de calcio hidrofobizado, bentonita hidrofobizada, caolinita hidrofobizada, vidrio hidrofobizado, o cualquier mezcla de ellos, se ponen en contacto con el agua que será purificada, en donde el carbonato de calcio natural reaccionado en superficie es el producto de reacción de un carbonato de calcio natural con un ácido y dióxido de carbono, el cual se forma in-situ mediante tratamiento con ácido y/o se proporciona externamente, y en donde el carbonato de calcio natural reaccionado en superficie se prepara como una suspensión acuosa que tiene un pH de más de 6.0, medido a 20 °C.
