Abstract
La presente invención se refiere a una membrana combinada capaz de permear selectivamente un componente más facilmente permeable de una mezcla de fluídos en operaciones de separación, pervaporación o perestrucción de gases y teniendo una capa de separación que determina las características de separación de la membrana y una capa porosa de soporte, la membrana combinada habiendo sido preparada por el proceso de revestimiento que comprende: a) revestir la capa de soprote con una capa de separación de material de membrana, la capa de soporte conteniendo una cantidad controlada de líquido en la gama de alrededor de 10 a 90 por ciento en peso del líquido presente en la capa de soporte en forma sustancialmente húmeda, el líquido siendo un solvente o no solvente para el material de la capa de separación; y b) secar la capa de separación sobre la capa de soporte, la presencia del líquido en la capa de soporte dando como resultado que la capa de separación sea de una naturaleza no oclusiva sin penetración apreciable del revestimiento en los poros de la capa de soporte, el revestimiento siendo potencialmente de una naturaleza asimétrica con una región menos densa adyacente a la superficie externa de la capa de soporte y una región exterior más densa adyacente a la superficie externa de la capa de separación, con lo cual la membrana combinada exhibe esencialmente las características de separación de la capa de separación mientras se logra una ventajosa combinación de selectividad y permeabilidad para la separación deseada de la mezcla de fluídos.
