Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a un procedimiento para producir artículos de carbón de alta densidad, de alta resistencia, que comprende: (a) mezclar un llenador carbonoso finamente dividido y un aglutinante de brea que tiene un valor de coquificación de por lo menos 70 por ciento, (b) conformar la mezcla a un cuerpo conformado; (c) incrustar el cuerpo conformado dentro de la envoltura permeable al gas de partículas no reactivas finamente divididas; (d) comprimir el cuerpo conformado mediante la aplicación de una carga a la envoltura de partículas no reactivas finamente divididas, que rodean el cuerpo conformado mientras se calienta simultáneamente el cuerpo conformado, la compresión suficiente para densificar el cuerpo conformado y el calentamiento para elevar el cuerpo conformado a una temperatura suficiente para carbonizar el aglutinante de brea.
