Articles of a powdered material, e.g. ceramic, ceramic-metal, or metal powders are formed by further shaping a pre-compressed body of the powder in a pressing tool the pressure being transmitted to the pre-form by a body composed of small individual elastic granules each of which may be coated with an anti-friction substance such as paraffin or graphite.
