Abstract
A method for the production of cooked powder metal pre-molded bodies, comprising, combining a mixture of finely divided metal particles and approximately 1.5% by weight of sucrose until an even distribution thereof is obtained, filling a suitable mold with said combined mixture, and heating the filled mold to a temperature of at least about 177ºC, but substantially below the temperature at which said metal particles sinter, said heating being carried out for a time at least sufficient to soften said sucrose until form a cooked pre-molded body with sufficient strength for handling and post-treatment.
