제1도는 본 발명의 이중형 액정 디스플레이 장치의 기본 셀구조를 나타내는 단면도.
제6도는 본 발명의 다른 액정 디스플레이 장치(예 이충형 TN-LCD)를 나타낸 단면도.
제8도는 본 발명의 다른 액정 디스플레이 장치(예 ; 이충형 SBE-LCD)를 나타낸 단면도.

Claims (7)

  1. 셀이 비틀림 네마틱 배향을 가진 액정분자를 함유하는, 제1셀층 및 제2셀층으로 구성된 이층형 액정 셀 및 제1 및 제2셀층중 한층내의 전압인가 수단으로 이루어지고, 제1셀층내의 액정분자의 비틀림각은 제2셀층내의 액정분자의 비틀림각과 정반대이고, 제2셀층 부근의 제1셀층내의 액정분자의 배향은 제1셀층 부근의 제1셀층내의 액정분자의 배향에 대해 직각인 액정 디스플레이 장치.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 제1 및 제2셀층의 액정분자의 비틀림각이 서로 거이 동일하고, 각각의 제1 및 제2셀층의 액정층의 복굴절 △n과 두께 d의 곱 △n·d가 서로 거의 동일한 액정 디스플레이 장치.
  3. 제1항에 있어서, 제1 및 제2셀층의 액정분자의 비틀림각이 서로 동일하고, 외력으로 인해 광학 변화를 받은 제1 및 제1 셀층중 하나의 액정층의 복굴절 △n1과 두께 d1의 곱 △n1·d1및 광학변화를받지 않은 다른 셀층의 액정층의 복굴절 △n2및 두께 d2의 곱 △n2·d2을 다음 부동식으로 나타낸 액정 시스플레이 장치.
    △n2·d2<0.85△n1·d1
  4. 제1, 제2 또는 제3항에 있어서, 각각의 제1 및 제2셀층의 액정분자의 비틀림각이 180 내지 360。의 범위인 액정 디스플레이 장치.
  5. 제1항에 있어서, 액정셀층에 인가 전압수단을 갖는 셀층의 액정분자의 비틀림의 핏치 p와 이의 셀층의 액정층을 두께 d와의 관계가 다음과 같은 액정 디스플레이 장치.
    θ/2π-1/4<d/p/<θ/2π
    (여기에서 θ는 액정분자의 비틀림각이다.)
  6. 제1 내지 제5항중 어느 한항에 있어서, 색상 필터층이 적어도 하나의 제1 및 제2셀층이 설치되어 있는 액정 디스플레이 장치.
  7. 제1항 내지 제6항중 어느 한항에 있어서, 능동장치가 적어도 하나의 제1 및 제2셀층의 각 화상 소자상에 설치되어 있는 액정 디스플레이 장치.
