제1도는 한실시예인 액정표시소자에 있어서의 배열방향, 편광판의 흡수축 방향 및 광학지연판의 광축방향의관계를 나타내는 도면.
제4도는 본 발명의 액정표시소자의 투과율의 파장의존성을 나타내는 도면.
제6도는 종래예의 액정 표시소자의 작용을 각각 설명하는 설명도.
제7도는 비교예인 액정표시소자의 투과율의 파장 의존성을 나타내는 도면이다.

Claims (5)

  1. 각각 대향면에 전극이 형성되어 대향설치된 제1 및 제2의 기판(1)(1')과 함께 저술한 제1 및 제2의 기판과의 사이에서 트위스트 배열된 액정조성물로 이루어지는 액정셀(5)과, 전술한 액정셀의 양측에 배치된 제1 및 제2의 편광판(3)(4)을 갖는 액정표시소자에 있어서, 제1의 기판(1)과 제1의 편광판(3)과의 사이에 제1의 광학지연판(10)을 또한 제2의 기판(1')의 제2의 편광판(4)과의 사이에 제2의 광학지연판(11)을 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 제1및 제2의 기판간격을 d, 액정조성물의 복굴절율을 △n, 액정조성물의 틸트각을 θ로 했을때 전술한 액정셀의 리타데이션 (R0)(=△nㆍdㆍcos2θ)이 0.4 내지 0.85㎛의 범위에 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자.
  3. 제2항에 있어서, 제1 및 제2의 광학지연판의 리타데이션이 각각 Ro x 0.3 내지 Ro x 1.0의 범위에 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자.
  4. 제1항에 있어서, 제1 및 제2의 광학지연판의 광학축이 70도 내지 110도 각도를 이루고 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자.
  5. 제1항에 있어서, 제1 및 제2의 편광판의 흡수축이 70도 내지 110도 각도를 이루고 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자.
