Abstract
Description
Claims (6)
- 한 쌍의 기판 사이에 액정층이 유지되어 이루어지는 액정 장치로서,상기 액정층은 초기 배향 상태가 수직 배향을 나타내는 유전 이방성이 부(負)인 액정으로 이루어지고, 상기 액정에는 소정의 일 방향으로 프리틸트가 부여되어 있고, 상기 한 쌍의 기판 중 적어도 한 쪽 기판의 외측에는, 부의 굴절율 이방성을 갖는 광학 보상판이 마련되어 있고, 상기 광학 보상판의 광축 방향과 상기 액정의 프리틸트 방향이 거의 평행하게 배치되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 광학 보상판은 상기 한 쪽의 기판과 평행하게 배치되어 있고, 상기 광학 보상판의 광축 방향은 해당 광학 보상판의 법선으로부터 어긋난 각도로서, 상기 액정의 프리틸트 방향과 거의 평행한 방향으로 배치되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 광학 보상판의 광축 방향은 해당 광학 보상판의 법선 방향과 거의 평행 한 방향으로 배치되어 이루어지고, 상기 광학 보상판은 해당 광학 보상판의 광축 방향과 상기 액정의 프리틸트 방향이 거의 평행이 되도록 상기 한 쪽의 기판과 평행한 위치로부터 경사지게 배치되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 장치.
- 청구항 1 내지 3 중 어느 한 항에 기재된 액정 장치를 광변조 수단으로서 구비한 것을 특징으로 하는 투사형 표시 장치.
- 제 4 항에 있어서,상기 광학 보상판의 광축 방향과 상기 액정의 프리틸트 방향을 일치시키도록 상기 광학 보상판의 설치 각도를 조절하는 조절 수단을 구비한 것을 특징으로 하는 투사형 표시 장치.
- 제 5 항에 있어서,상기 조절 수단은 상기 광학 보상판을 2축으로 회전시키는 회전 기구로 이루어지는 것을 특징으로 하는 투사형 표시 장치.
