- KTa1-xNbxO3(0<x<1) 및 K1-yLiyTa1-xNbxO3(0<x<1, 0<y<1)의 적어도 한쪽으로 이루어지는 조성의 결정재료를 도파로 재료로 이용하여, 적어도 1개의 입력 도파로와, 1개의 출력 도파로와, 상기 입력 도파로에 접속된 3dB 커플러와, 상기 출력 도파로에 접속된 3dB 커플러와, 2개의 상기 3dB 커플러를 접속하는 2개의 삼차원 광도파로를 가지는 마하젠더형의 광강도변조기에 있어서,상기 삼차원 광도파로의 적어도 한쪽에 전극이 배치되어 있는 전기 광학 위상 쉬프터를 가지고,상기 삼차원 광도파로의 한쪽에는, 상기 채널 도파로를 사이에 두고 장변(長邊)방향에 평행으로 대향하는 2개의 장방형(長方形) 전극 및 상기 한쪽의 삼차원 광도파로 상에 1개의 전극이 배치되어 있음과 동시에, 상기 삼차원 광도파로의 다른 한쪽에는, 상기 삼차원 광도파로를 사이에 두고 장변방향에 평행으로 대향하여 2개의 장방형 전극이 배치되고, 상기 전극배치에 의해, 상기 삼차원 광도파로의 한 쪽에 인가되는 전계의 방향과 상기 삼차원 광도파로의 다른 쪽에 인가되는 전계의 방향이 직교하고 있고,푸시풀(push pull) 동작을 하는 것을 특징으로 하는 유전체 결정을 이용한 광강도변조기.

- 제3항에 있어서,상기 전극에 의한 전계 인가 방향은 상기 삼차원 광도파로에 대해서 소정의 결정축 방향이고,DC 바이어스를 동작전에 인가해 두고, 동작시에 더 구동전압을 인가하는 것을 특징으로 하는 광강도변조기.
- 제3항에 있어서,상기 KTa1-xNbxO3 및 K1-yLiyTa1-xNbxO3의 적어도 한쪽의 온도를, 상기 KTa1-xNbxO3 및 K1-yLiyTa1-xNbxO3의 적어도 한쪽에 대한 정방정으로부터 입방정으로의 상전이 온도 근방으로 제어하는 온도 콘트롤러를 더 구비하는 것을 특징으로 하는 광강도변조기.
