Abstract

PURPOSE: To add the additional processor without giving a big modification to the existing system, by connecting both the data processor CPU and the additional processor to the main memory unit via the interface switching unit.
CONSTITUTION: Interface switching unit 6 is provided between main memory device 1 and CPU2. Unit 6 is connected to CPU2 via bus 8 and AA signal line 10; and also unit 6 is connected to additional processor 3 via bus 9 plus AA line 11 respectively. And the switching of unit 6 is carried out by controlling CPU3. In case logic 0 is given to line 10, the information is transferred between device 1 and CPU2. And when line 10 is in logic 1, the information is transferred between CPU2 and processor 3. And if logic 0 is applied to line 11, the information is transferred between device 1 and processor 3. In case line 11 is in logic 1, the information is transferred between processor 3 and CPU2. Thus the addition of processor 3 just means the addition of the AA line for the existing unit.
