Abstract

(57)【要約】 【構成】 結像表面（２３）を像源からほぼ一定距離に
維持することによって、ドラム（２２）の心振れによる
像のゆがみを最小限に抑えることができるように感光体
ドラム（２２）を取り付ける装置。感光体ドラム（２
２）は、回転可能な支持体（７０）に取り付けられて、
案内部材（７６）にばね（７２）により弾性的に押し付
けられている。 【効果】 感光体ドラムの結像表面を回転可能な案内部
材に押し付けることによって、結像表面が像源からほぼ
一定距離に維持されて、ドラムの心振れによる横倍率エ
ラーを最小限に抑えることができる。

Description

【発明の詳細な説明】
【０００１】本発明は、感光体ドラムの取り付け装置
に、特にタンデム構造の電子写真印刷装置における多重
結像部用の感光体ドラム心振れ(runout)制御装置に関す
るものである。
【０００２】米国特許第５，０３８，１７２号は、感光
体ドラムの交換が容易でありながら軸受遊びがない感光
体ドラム用の軸受を開示している。
【０００３】米国特許第４，９２２，２９７号は、半径
方向に取り外し可能に軸受によって支持された感光体ド
ラムを支持している支持軸を開示している。支持軸及び
感光体ドラム軸に一体的に回転可能に連結されているジ
ョイントが、支持軸または感光体ドラム駆動軸から切り
離されるように配置されている。
【０００４】米国特許第４，１２０，５７６号は、内側
及び外側ハブを設けており、外表面がドラムの内表面に
締まりばめされるドラム支持装置を開示している。ハブ
は、フレームから片持ち式の軸に支持されている一方、
ドラムの中心に単一のナットを締め付けることによって
固定できるようにする装備を設けている。この構造は、
ハブに加わる力を均一に分散させて、ドラムの円形心振
れを低減させることができる。
【０００５】本発明の１つの特徴によれば、ドラム取り
付け装置が提供されている。この装置は、表面を所定の
基準位置からほぼ一定距離に維持できるようにドラムを
案内する手段を有している。ドラムを前記案内手段に向
けて弾性的に押し付けることによって、それに接触した
状態にドラム表面を位置決めする手段も設けられてい
る。
【０００６】図１は、本発明の感光体ドラム心振れ制御
装置の端面図である。図２は、図１の側面図である。
【０００７】次に図面を参照しながら本発明をさらに詳
細に説明する。図１及び２は、感光体ドラム心振れ制御
装置を詳細に示している。図１は、４つのドラムのうち
の１つの感光体ドラム２２を示している。レーザ８２、
多面鏡８４及びモジュレータ（図示せず）を設けた一般
的な結像装置８０も図示されている。多面鏡８４と感光
体表面２３との間の共役(conjugate) 長さ（”Ｄ”で表
されている）を一定に維持することが重要である。多面
鏡８４と感光体表面２３との間の共役長さが変化する
と、横倍率エラーが像に導入される。上記形式の多色印
刷装置の場合、４色のトナー像を互いに整合させた状態
で重ね合わせなければならないので、このことは特に重
要である。多面鏡８４と感光体表面２３との間の共役長
さを変化させるわずかなドラム心振れで導入された横倍
率エラーでも、容認できない横倍率エラーを発生するこ
とがある。感光体ドラム２２は軸受７０によって軸方向
に支持されている。これらの軸受７０の各々は、感光体
ドラム２２を多面鏡８４で反射した走査ビームの方へ押
し付けることができるようにばね７２で付勢されてい
る。感光体表面２３が、装置のフレーム７８に取り付け
られた案内軸受７６に押し付けられている。その表面２
３が常時案内軸受７６に当接して、多面鏡８４と感光体
表面２３との間の共役長さ”Ｄ”を一定に維持できるよ
うに、感光体ドラム２２は常時ばね付勢されている。装
置の各感光体ドラムにこの構造を用いることによって、
各ドラム及び連続ドラム間の横倍率エラーの変化が最小
に抑えられる。

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. 【請求項１】 次のものを含む、ドラム取り付け装置：
    表面を所定の基準位置からほぼ一定距離に維持できるよ
    うにドラムを案内する手段；及びドラムを前記案内手段
    に向けて弾性的に押し付けることによって、それに接触
    した状態にドラム表面を位置決めする手段。
