Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 〔産業上の利用分野〕 この発明は、高強度でかつ破断伸びが大きい繊
維強化樹脂製棒状体に関する。
〔従来技術とその問題点〕
繊維強化樹脂成形品、いわゆるFRPは、比強
度が高い、耐食性に優れる、成形性がよく形状の
自由度が高いなどの特長を有し、種々の構造材料
等に広く使用されている。
ところで、第5図はFRPと鋼との応力一歪曲
線(S−S曲線)を示すグラフであるが、このグ
ラフからもわかるように、FRPは塑性変形がほ
とんどなく、延性に極めて低く、いわゆる強いが
粘がないことがわかる。一方、鋼は塑性変形が大
きく、強くかつ粘り強いことがわかる。
よつて、FRPにおいても“粘り強さ”を付与
できれば、鋼等の金属材料と同様の破壊挙動を示
し、金属材料の代替品としてより一層の用途が広
がることになる。
〔発明の目的〕
この発明は、上述の要望を満たすFRPの一つ
としての繊維強化樹脂製棒状体を提供することを
目的とするもので、補強繊維の一部または全部
に、連続繊維を多数本撚り合せた撚紐状連続繊維
を用いることにより適度の破断伸びを持たせるよ
うにしたものである。
〔実施例〕
第1図は、この発明の繊維強化樹脂製棒状体の
第1の例を示すもので、図中符号1はこの棒状体
の補強繊維の一方をなす直線連続繊維である。こ
の直線連続繊維1は、ガラス繊維、カーボン繊
維、ホウ素繊維、セラミツク繊維、金属繊維、ビ
ニロン繊維、ナイロン繊維、ポリエステル繊維、
アラミド繊維などの繊維の長繊維を50〜200本合
糸したストランドをさらに8〜120本束ねたロー
ビングまたはトウが用いられる。繊維としては上
記種々の繊維を単独もしくは2種以上適宜組合せ
て使用することができる。これらの繊維はマトリ
ツクス樹脂に応じてシラン処理、ボラン処理など
の表面処理を施しておくこともできる。
また、図中符号2は、棒状体の補強繊維の他方
をなす撚紐状連続繊維である。この撚紐状連続2
は、直線連続繊維1を構成するロービングまたは
トウと同種もしくは異種のロービングまたはトウ
をさらに複数本撚り合わせてなるものである。撚
り合せは同心撚、、集合撚、複合撚のいずれでも
よく、またその他の撚り合せ方法でもよい。
さらに、図中符号8はマトリツクスとなる合成
樹脂である。この合成樹脂3としては、特に限定
されず、エポキシ樹脂、不飽和ポリエステル樹
脂、ポリウレタン樹脂、ジアリルフタレート樹
脂、フエノール樹脂などの熱硬化性樹脂やポリア
セタール樹脂、飽和ポリエステル樹脂、ポリアミ
ド樹脂、ポリスチロール樹脂、ポリカーボネイト
樹脂、塩化ビニル樹脂、ポリエチレン樹脂、ポリ
プロピレン樹脂、アクリル樹脂などの熱可塑性樹
脂が棒状体の用途等に応じて適宜選択される。
そして、上記直線連続繊維1と撚紐状連続繊維
2とは、いずれも当然のことながら棒状体の長手
方向に配向されており、この例にあつては多くの
直線連続繊維1…と多くの撚紐状連続繊維2…と
が第1図のように特別の規則性なしにランダムに
配置されている。また、これらの直線連続繊維1
…および撚紐状連続繊維2…は、合成樹脂3中に
若干の引張応力が加わつた状態で埋め込まれてい
る。
棒状体中の補強繊維の割合(Vf)は20〜70体
積%の範囲とされ、20体積%未満では十分な補強
効果が得られず、70体積%を越えるものは製造が
困難である。また、補強繊維中の直線連続繊維1
と撚紐状連続繊維2との割合は、撚紐状連続繊維
2が少なくなれば破断伸びが得られなくなるの
で、撚紐状連続繊維2が20〜100体積%の範囲と
され、好ましくは50〜90体積%の範囲とされる。
また、直線連続繊維1…および撚紐状連続繊維
2…は、棒状体中では直線状に配置されてもよ
く、あるいは直線連続繊維1…および撚紐状連続
繊維2…がそれぞれ別々にもしくは相互に撚り合
されて長手方向に配置されていてもよい。撚合の
場合には、同様に同心撚、集合撚、複合撚などが
採用される。
このような構造の棒状体を得るには、例えば所
定本数の直線連続繊維1…と撚紐状連続繊維2…
とをそれぞれ送り出し、これらを未硬化液状のエ
ポキシ樹脂等が満された樹脂含浸槽に連続して送
り込み、ここで樹脂含浸する。ついで、樹脂含浸
された繊維群を束ねて円筒状の引抜き金型に通
し、樹脂を硬化させることにより、連続的に長尺
の棒状体を製造することができる。この際、前述
のように直線連続繊維1…および撚紐状連続繊維
2…とに所定の長手方向の張力がかかつた状態で
樹脂を硬化させる必要があるので、直線連続繊維
1…および撚紐状連続繊維2…は所定のバツクテ
ンシヨンがかけられた状態で金型に送り込まれ
る。
〔作用〕
このような棒状体にあつては、直線連続繊維1
が第2図中aのような応力一歪挙動を示し、撚紐
状連続繊維2が第2図中bのような応力一歪挙動
を示すことから、第2図中cに示すような金属材
材料に似た弾性率が高く、破断伸びの大きな破壊
挙動を示すようになり、金属材料と同様の構造設
計が可能となる。
特に補強繊維としてカーボン繊維などの高弾性
繊維を選び、その配合量(Vf)を60〜70体積%
程度にした棒状体は、棒鋼に似た弾性率、破断強
度、破断伸び等を示すようになる。よつて、これ
を例えば鉄筋コンクリート用鉄筋として使用する
ことも可能であり、従来の棒鋼製鉄筋にはない軽
量性、耐食性、非磁性等の特性を有するものが得
られる。
〔他の実施例〕
第3図はこの発明の繊維強化樹脂製棒状体の第
2の例を示すもので、第1図に示すものと同一構
成部分には同一符号を付してその説明を省略す
る。この例の棒状体は、多数の直線連続繊維1が
…が中心部に集中して配置され、その外側にこれ
ら直線連続繊維1…を囲むように撚紐状連続繊維
2…が配置されてなるものである。
また、第4図はこの発明の棒状体の第3の例を
示すもので、この例では撚紐状連続繊維2…が中
心部に配され、その外側に直線連続繊維1…が置
かれたものである。
これらの構造のものでも、若干の破壊挙動に差
が生ずるものの同様の作用効果を得ることができ
る。
なお、棒状体の外径、長さなどは適宜用途に応
じたものとすることができる。
〔発明の効果〕
以上説明したように、この発明の繊維強化樹脂
製製棒状体は、補強繊維の一部または全部を連続
繊維を撚つて形成した撚紐状連続繊維としたもの
であるので、高弾性率、高破断強度を有するとと
もに適度の破断伸びを有するものとなり、その破
壊挙動が鋼等の金属材料に似たものとなり、広い
用途に使用できるようになる。
特に、補強繊維にカーボン繊維などの高弾性繊
維を用い、その含有率を60〜70体積%とし、撚紐
状連続繊維の割合を50〜90体積%程度としたもの
では、棒鋼に近い機械的特性を有するものにな
り、よつてこれを例えば鉄筋コンクリート用鉄筋
として使用することが可能となり、軽量性、耐食
性、非磁性といつた鋼製鉄筋にはない新しい特性
を持つた鉄筋が得られることになる。

棒状体の例を示す概略断面図、第2図は直線連続
繊維、撚紐状連続繊維およびこれらを複合したも
のの応力一歪曲線を示すグラフ、第5図は鋼およ
びFRPの応力一歪曲線を示すグラフである。 1……直線連続繊維、2……撚紐状連続繊維、
3……合成樹脂。

  1. 【特許請求の範囲】 1 補強繊維と合成樹脂とからなる繊維強化樹脂
    製棒状体において、 補強繊維の一部または全部が連続繊維を撚つて
    形成した撚紐状連続繊維であることを特徴とする
    繊維強化樹脂製棒状体。
