Description
本実施形態に係る波長変換体100は、図1に示すように、第一の蛍光体1と第二の蛍光体2を含む波長変換体である。第一の蛍光体1は、Ce3+で付活された無機蛍光体からなる。第二の蛍光体2もCe3+で付活された無機蛍光体からなるが、第一の蛍光体1とは異なる蛍光体である。そして、第一の蛍光体1と第二の蛍光体2の少なくとも一方は粒子状を成している。図1では、第一の蛍光体1と第二の蛍光体2の両方が粒子状である場合を示している。
次に、本実施形態に係る波長変換体100の製造方法について、図7を用いて説明する。なお、図7の右側に位置する模式図は、各工程における蛍光体粒子群の状態を概略的に示している。
次に、本実施形態に係る発光装置を説明する。本実施形態の発光装置は、上述の波長変換体を備えている。
実施例1では、第一の蛍光体として、Lu2CaMg2(SiO4)3:Ce3+蛍光体を使用し、第二の蛍光体として、Lu3Al2(AlO4)3:Ce3+蛍光体を使用した波長変換体を作製した。
実施例2では、実施例1で得られた、直径約φ7.5mm、高さ約0.6mmの円盤状の焼結体からなる波長変換体に対して、平滑面を形成した。

Claims (22)
- Ce3+で付活されたケイ酸塩系の無機蛍光体からなる第一の蛍光体と、
Ce3+で付活されたアルミン酸塩系の無機蛍光体からなり、前記第一の蛍光体とは異なる第二の蛍光体と、
を含む波長変換体であって、
前記第一の蛍光体及び前記第二の蛍光体の少なくとも一方は粒子状であり、
前記第一の蛍光体及び前記第二の蛍光体は、ガーネットの結晶構造をもつ化合物であり、
前記波長変換体は、前記第一の蛍光体及び前記第二の蛍光体が焼結してなり、内部に複数の空隙を有する焼結体であり、さらに、前記第一の蛍光体を構成する化合物と前記第二の蛍光体を構成する化合物とが固溶することにより形成されている結合部を介して、前記第一の蛍光体と前記第二の蛍光体が結合している、波長変換体。 - 前記第一の蛍光体は、前記第二の蛍光体と異なる色の蛍光を放つ、請求項1に記載の波長変換体。
- 前記第一の蛍光体と前記第二の蛍光体とは互いに融点が異なる、請求項1又は2に記載の波長変換体。
- 前記波長変換体は、前記第一の蛍光体を構成する元素と、前記第二の蛍光体を構成する元素のみを含む、請求項1乃至3のいずれか一項に記載の波長変換体。
- 前記波長変換体は、実質的に、前記第一の蛍光体と、前記第二の蛍光体と、前記第一の蛍光体と前記第二の蛍光体との前記結合部からなる、請求項1乃至4のいずれか一項に記載の波長変換体。
- 前記波長変換体は無機酸化物のみからなる、請求項1乃至5のいずれか一項に記載の波長変換体。
- 前記波長変換体はガーネット化合物のみからなる、請求項6に記載の波長変換体。
- 前記粒子状の蛍光体の平均粒子径は、1μm以上100μm未満である、請求項1乃至7のいずれか一項に波長変換体。
- 前記波長変換体に含まれる発光中心はCe3+のみである、請求項1乃至8のいずれか一項に記載の波長変換体。
- 前記第一の蛍光体及び前記第二の蛍光体のいずれか一方は、580nm以上630nm未満の波長範囲内に蛍光ピークを有する光を放つ蛍光体である、請求項1乃至9のいずれか一項に記載の波長変換体。
- 前記第一の蛍光体及び前記第二の蛍光体の他方は、480nm以上550nm未満の波長範囲内に蛍光ピークを有する光を放つ蛍光体である、請求項10に記載の波長変換体。
- 前記第一の蛍光体及び第二の蛍光体は、400nm以上470nm未満の波長範囲内にピークを有する光によって励起する、請求項1乃至11のいずれか一項に記載の波長変換体。
- 前記第一の蛍光体が放つ第一の蛍光と、前記第二の蛍光体が放つ第二の蛍光との混色光は、青色光との加法混色によって白色光となる、請求項1乃至12のいずれか一項に記載の波長変換体。
- 前記第一の蛍光体及び前記第二の蛍光体の一方が放つ蛍光は、前記第一の蛍光体及び前記第二の蛍光体の他方を励起する、請求項1乃至9のいずれか一項に記載の波長変換体。
- 前記波長変換体は透光性を有する、請求項1乃至14のいずれか一項に記載の波長変換体。
- 前記波長変換体は透光性を有しない、請求項1乃至14のいずれか一項に記載の波長変換体。
- 前記第一の蛍光体が放つ第一の蛍光及び前記第二の蛍光体が放つ第二の蛍光の少なくとも一方を、励起光の照射面とは異なる面から放つ、請求項1乃至16のいずれか一項に記載の波長変換体。
- 板状であり、一方の面が平滑面である、請求項1乃至17のいずれか一項に記載の波長変換体。
- 前記一方の面の反対側は、複数の凹凸を有する凹凸面であり、
前記凹凸面の表面粗さRaは、2μm以上50μm以下である、請求項18に記載の波長変換体。 - 請求項1乃至19のいずれか一項に記載の波長変換体の製造方法であって、
Ce3+で付活された無機蛍光体からなる前記第一の蛍光体の粒子群と、Ce3+で付活された無機蛍光体からなり、前記第一の蛍光体とは異なる前記第二の蛍光体の粒子群とを混合してなる成形体を作製する成形工程と、
前記成形体に含まれる前記第一の蛍光体と前記第二の蛍光体とを結合する結合工程と、
を有し、
前記結合工程は、前記第一の蛍光体と前記第二の蛍光体との接触部に、前記第一の蛍光体と前記第二の蛍光体との固溶体を形成する工程である、波長変換体の製造方法。 - 請求項1乃至19のいずれか一項に記載の波長変換体を備える、発光装置。
- 固体発光素子をさらに備え、
前記波長変換体に含まれる前記第一の蛍光体及び前記第二の蛍光体は、前記固体発光素子が放つ励起光を、当該励起光よりも長波長の光に変換する、請求項21に記載の発光装置。
