Description
以下、本発明の実施の形態について図面を用いて説明する。
なお、本実施の形態では、二次電池の例として、ハイブリッド自動車や電気自動車などの車両に搭載される車載用の角形リチウムイオン二次電池(以下、角形二次電池)の場合を例に説明するが、本発明は本実施の形態の内容に限定されるものではなく、正極電極と負極電極を捲回した捲回体を有する電池であれば適用することができる。
従来の捲回体203は、捲き弛みを防ぐために、セパレータ33の捲き終わり端部33eを跨ぐように粘着テープ240のみが貼り付けられている。従来の捲回体203の場合、負極電極32の最外周部は、その外側がセパレータ33によって押さえられているだけなので、内側の正極電極34から離れる方向に浮き上がりやすく、正極電極34との間隔が変動して容量低下を起こす可能性がある。
図8は、本実施の形態にかかる捲回体の構成を説明する図、図9は、本実施の形態に係る捲回体の正極箔露出部側の要部を拡大した断面図、図10は、本実施の形態に係る捲回体の負極箔露出部側の要部を拡大した断面図である。

Claims (2)
- 帯状の金属箔の両面に合剤層を有し、前記金属箔の一方の長辺の端部に前記金属箔が露出した金属箔露出部を有する正極電極及び負極電極を間にセパレータを介して積層し捲回した捲回体を備えた二次電池であって、
前記捲回体は、一対の平坦面部を備えた扁平形状を有し、捲回軸方向一方側と他方側に前記正極電極の金属箔露出部と前記負極電極の金属箔露出部が配置され、前記負極電極が前記捲回体の最外周電極とされ、前記負極電極の最外周部が前記セパレータによって覆われ、該セパレータでかつ前記負極電極の最外周部を覆う部分の少なくとも一部が前記正極電極の金属箔露出部に固定されている構造を有し、
前記負極電極の最外周部の捲き終わり端部と前記セパレータの最外周部の捲き終わり端部は、前記一対の平坦面部のうちの一方の平坦面部にそれぞれ配置されており、前記セパレータの最外周部の捲き終わり端部の方が前記負極電極の最外周部の捲き終わり端部よりも捲回方向に突出しており、
前記捲回体は、前記セパレータの側端部が、前記負極電極を内周側と外周側から挟み込んで前記正極電極の金属箔露出部側に向かって突出し、前記一対の平坦面部のうちの一方の平坦面部の全部に亘って前記セパレータの最外周の側端部が前記正極電極の金属箔露出部に熱溶着により固定された熱溶着部を有しており、
前記熱溶着部は、前記一方の平坦面部において前記捲回体の前記負極電極の最外周部を覆う前記セパレータの正極箔露出部側の側端部に沿って延在しかつ前記セパレータの正極箔露出部側の側端部より捲回方向に延長して設けられ、
前記正極電極の金属箔露出部と前記負極電極の金属箔露出部は、それぞれ前記平坦面部において厚さ方向に束ねられて密着し正極集電板及び負極集電板に接合されていることを特徴とする二次電池。 - 前記捲回体は、前記一対の平坦面部においてそれぞれ前記セパレータの側端部が前記正極電極の金属箔露出部に固定されていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の二次電池。
