Description
樹脂、場合によりワックス、場合により着色剤、場合により界面活性剤、場合により凝固剤、1つ以上のさらなる任意要素の添加剤を含有する第1のエマルションを混合することによってスラリーを作製することと、
スラリーを加熱し、スラリー中に凝集粒子を作製することと、
スラリーに、樹脂を含む第2のエマルションを加えることによって、凝集粒子の上にシェルを作製することと;
シェルを作製する工程中に、スラリーに対し、電荷制御剤で処理されたスペーサー粒子を加え、シェル中に突起部を作製することと、
pHを調節することによって、粒子の凝集を凍結させることと、
スラリー中の凝集粒子を加熱し、粒子を融着させてトナー粒子にすることと、
場合により、トナー粒子を洗浄し、乾燥することとを含む、方法も提供する。
(1)体積平均径(体積平均粒径とも呼ばれる)が約2.5〜約20μm、いくつかの実施形態では、約2.75〜約10μm、他の実施形態では、約3〜約9μmである。
(2)数平均幾何標準偏差(GSDn)および/または体積平均幾何標準偏差(GSDv)が、約1.05〜約1.55、いくつかの実施形態では、約1.1〜約1.4。
(3)真円度が、約0.9〜約1(例えば、Sysmex FPIA 2100分析機によって測定すると)、いくつかの実施形態では、約0.93〜約0.99、他の実施形態では、約0.95〜約0.98。
(4)ガラス転移温度が約45℃〜約60℃。
(5)トナー粒子は、表面積が、よく知られているBET法によって測定すると、約1.3〜約6.5m2/gであり得る。例えば、シアン、イエロー、マゼンタ、ブラックのトナー粒子の場合、BET表面積は、1m2/g未満、例えば、約0.8〜約1.8m2/gであってもよい。
Claims (9)
- シェルとコアとを備え、前記シェルが、電荷制御剤で処理されたスペーサー粒子とアモルファス樹脂とを含み、これによりトナー粒子表面に突起部を生じる、トナー粒子であって、
前記スペーサー粒子は、下記の一般的な構造
前記電荷制御剤は、前記トナー粒子の0.001〜20重量%の量であり、
前記電荷制御剤で処理されたスペーサー粒子は、一般的に球状であって、平均粒径が50〜1500nmであり、
前記トナー粒子は、80°Fおよび相対湿度80〜85%の環境で35μC/gmより大きな粒子電荷を受け入れ、70°Fおよび相対湿度50%の環境で65μC/gmより大きな粒子電荷を受け入れ、70°Fおよび相対湿度10%の環境で85μC/gmより大きな粒子電荷を受け入れる、トナー粒子。 - 前記電荷制御剤が3,5−ジ三級ブチルサリチル酸アルミニウムである、請求項1に記載のトナー粒子。
- 着色剤およびワックスの少なくとも1つを更に含む、請求項1または2に記載のトナー粒子。
- 乳化/凝集粒子である、請求項1〜3のいずれか一項に記載のトナー粒子。
- シェルとコアとを備え、前記シェルが、電荷制御剤で処理されたスペーサー粒子とアモルファス樹脂とを含み、これによりトナー粒子表面に突起部を生じるトナー粒子を製造する方法であって、この方法は、
樹脂、場合によりワックス、場合により着色剤、場合により界面活性剤、場合により凝固剤、1つ以上のさらなる任意要素の添加剤を含有する第1のエマルションを混合することによってスラリーを作製することと、
スラリーを加熱し、スラリー中に前記樹脂を含む凝集コア粒子を作製することと、
スラリーに、前記アモルファス樹脂を含み、電荷制御剤で処理されたスペーサー粒子を含まない第2のエマルションを加えることによって、凝集コア粒子の上にシェルを作製することと、
シェルを作製する工程中に、スラリーに対し、電荷制御剤で処理されたスペーサー粒子を加え、シェル中に突起部を作製することと、
pHを調節することによって、粒子の凝集を凍結させることと、
スラリー中の凝集粒子を加熱し、粒子を融着させてトナー粒子にすることと、
場合により、トナー粒子を洗浄し、乾燥することとを含み、
前記シェルは、電荷制御剤で処理されたスペーサー粒子を含み、これによりトナー粒子表面に突起部を生じ、
前記スペーサー粒子は、アルキルトリアルコキシシランから合成されたシリコーン樹脂からなり、
前記電荷制御剤は、前記トナー粒子の0.001〜20重量%の量であり、
前記電荷制御剤で処理されたスペーサー粒子は、一般的に球状であって、平均粒径が50〜1500nmであり、
前記トナー粒子は、80°Fおよび相対湿度80〜85%の環境で35μC/gmより大きな粒子電荷を受け入れ、70°Fおよび相対湿度50%の環境で65μC/gmより大きな粒子電荷を受け入れ、70°Fおよび相対湿度10%の環境で85μC/gmより大きな粒子電荷を受け入れる、方法。 - 前記のシェルを作製する工程において、前記シェルの第1の部分を作製した後ではあるが、完全なシェルが作製される前に、前記電荷制御剤で処理されたスペーサー粒子が、スラリーに添加される、請求項5に記載の方法。
- 前記のシェルを作製する工程において、シェルの厚みが前記シェルの10〜80%に達した後、前記電荷制御剤で処理されたスペーサー粒子を前記スラリーに加える、請求項5または6に記載の方法。
- 前記電荷制御剤が3,5−ジ三級ブチルサリチル酸アルミニウムである、請求項5〜7のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記電荷制御剤で処理されたスペーサー粒子が、溶媒中、電荷制御剤とスペーサー粒子とを混合することによって作製される、請求項5〜8のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
