図6は、本発明の実施の形態2におけるシート状繊維構造体20を用いた断熱材の概念図である。シート状繊維構造体20の作製方法は実施の形態1と同様である。空隙部2を有する繊維1が基材7に挟み込まれている。基材7は、例えば平面状のガラス、シリコン、石英、セラミック、樹脂、金属の少なくとも一つからなる。シート状繊維構造体20には空隙部2が多く存在するので、基材7間が断熱される。
図8は、本発明の実施の形態3における撥水膜により表面修飾されたシート状繊維構造体の拡大断面図である。本実施の形態では、実施の形態1と同様の方法で作製したシート状繊維構造体20の繊維1の表面が撥水膜8によって表面修飾されている。撥水膜8は、例えばCF2鎖が繋がったポリマーやCF基が存在するフッ素化合物、アルキルシリル基、フルオロシリル基、長鎖アルキル基によって形成できる。繊維1の表面が撥水効果を持つ化学物質で修飾されることにより、撥水膜8が繊維1の表面に形成される。その結果、シート状繊維構造体20が極めて高い撥水性を有し、水滴など液体状態の水はシート内部に進入できない。一方、水蒸気など気体状態であればシートを通過できる。しかもシート状繊維構造体20は高い空隙率を有するので、気体は容易にシート状繊維構造体20を通過する。つまり、水蒸気は通すが水は通さない膜として利用できる。この膜は通気性(透気性)の高い防水シートや防水服などに利用される。
本実施の形態では、実施の形態1と同様の方法で作製したシート状繊維構造体20を接着性細胞培養に用いる培養皿の足場として用いる。図9は、シート状繊維構造体20を細胞培養に用いた場合の概念図である。
本実施の形態では、実施の形態1と同様の方法で作製したシート状繊維構造体20の繊維1の表面が撥水膜8によって表面修飾されている。このシート状繊維構造体20を接着性細胞培養に用いる培養皿の足場として用いる。図10は、シート状繊維構造体20を細胞培養に用いた場合の概念図である。
