Claims (13)
- 多数の画素電極と、前記多数の画素電極の中央をそれぞれ横切って互いに並んで配列された多数のデータラインと、前記データラインと交差する多数のゲートラインと、前記ゲートライン、前記データライン及び前記画素電極とそれぞれ連結された多数の駆動薄膜トランジスタとを含む第1表示板と、
前記第1表示板と対向して配置され、共通電極を含む第2表示板と、
前記第1表示板と前記第2表示板との間に配置された液晶層とを含み、
一つの前記データラインは、前記データラインが横切る画素電極と、前記一つのデータラインと隣接するもう一つの前記データラインが横切る画素電極とに、前記データラインの長手方向に沿って交互に同一のデータ電圧を供給し、
前記画素電極は、第1画素電極と、前記第1画素電極と前記データラインの長手方向に隣接し、前記第1画素電極にデータ電圧を供給する前記一つのデータラインと隣接する前記もう一つのデータラインからデータ電圧が供給される第2画素電極とを含み、
前記第1画素電極は第1主画素電極と第1副画素電極とを含み、
前記第2画素電極は第2主画素電極と第2副画素電極とを含み、
前記第1副画素電極及び前記第2副画素電極は、前記ドメインの境界に、前記駆動薄膜トランジスタのドレイン電極の延長により形成される結合容量に連結されており、前記ドレイン電極の延長されている部分は隣接する画素電極の間を通って前記結合容量部分に至り、
前記第1主画素電極及び前記第2主画素電極はそれぞれ前記駆動薄膜トランジスタと直接連結され、
前記第1副画素電極及び前記第2副画素電極はそれぞれ前記駆動薄膜トランジスタと前記結合容量を通じて間接連結されることを特徴とする表示装置。 - 前記一つのデータラインと連結された前記画素電極は同一極性のデータ電圧が供給され、
互いに隣接する前記画素電極は相異なる極性のデータ電圧が供給されることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の表示装置。 - 前記駆動薄膜トランジスタは、前記多数のデータラインのうちのいずれか一つのみと連結されて前記画素電極の端部に対応する位置に配置され、
前記一つのデータラインは、前記データラインの長手方向に沿って、前記データラインの両側にそれぞれ位置した前記駆動薄膜トランジスタと交互に連結され、
前記多数の駆動薄膜トランジスタは、全部同一方向に隣接する前記画素電極と連結されることを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の表示装置。 - 前記駆動薄膜トランジスタは、前記多数のデータラインのうちのいずれか一つのみと連結されて前記画素電極の端部に対応する位置に配置され、
前記一つのデータラインは、前記駆動薄膜トランジスタと連結され、
前記駆動薄膜トランジスタは、前記データラインの長手方向に沿って両側にそれぞれ位置した前記画素電極と交互に連結されることを特徴とする請求項2に記載の表示装置。 - 前記結合容量は、十字形状に形成されることを特徴とする請求項1乃至4のうちいずれか一項に記載の表示装置。
- 前記第1表示板は、前記画素電極と前記データラインとの間に配置されるカラーフィルターをさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項1乃至5のうちいずれか一項に記載の表示装置。
- 前記画素電極及び前記共通電極のうちの一つ以上はマイクロスリットパターンを含み、
前記マイクロスリットパターンは、前記画素電極が配置されている画素領域を複数の前記ドメインに分けることを特徴とする請求項1乃至6のうちのいずれか一項に記載の表示装置。 - 前記マイクロスリットパターンは、
前記データラインと並んで重なる一つ以上の縦部と、
前記縦部と交差する一つ以上の横部と、
前記縦部及び前記横部のうちの一つ以上から伸びる複数の斜線部とを含むことを特徴とする請求項7に記載の表示装置。 - 前記液晶層は、垂直に配向された液晶分子と紫外線硬化型のモノマーとを含み、
前記マイクロスリットパターン及び前記紫外線硬化型のモノマーは、ドメインごとに前記液晶分子を相異なる方向にプレチルトさせることを特徴とする請求項7または8に記載の表示装置。 - 前記結合容量は、前記第1副画素電極及び前記第2副画素電極のそれぞれの中心に配置されることを特徴とする請求項1乃至6のうちのいずれか一項に記載の表示装置。
- 前記第1副画素電極及び前記第2副画素電極には、前記第1主画素電極及び前記第2主画素電極よりも弱いデータ電圧が供給されることを特徴とする請求項1乃至10のうちいずれか一項に記載の表示装置。
- 前記第1表示板の画素電極の上に配置された第1配向膜と、
前記第2表示板の共通電極の上に配置された第2配向膜とをさらに含み、
前記第1配向膜及び前記第2配向膜のうちの一つ以上の配向膜は、一つの前記画素電極を複数のドメインに分けることを特徴とする請求項1乃至11のうちのいずれか一項に記載の表示装置。 - 前記複数のドメインの境界のうちの一部は、前記データラインと平行して重なることを特徴とする請求項12に記載の表示装置。
