Description
Claims (10)
- 絶縁第1基板と、
前記第1基板上に形成されている第1配線と、
前記第1基板上に形成され、前記第1配線と絶縁されて交差している第2配線と、
前記第1配線及び前記第2配線が交差して定義する画素領域ごとに形成され、第1ドメイン分割手段によって複数の小部分に分割されている画素電極と、
前記第1配線、前記第2配線、及び前記画素電極と連結されている薄膜トランジスタと、
前記第1基板と対向する絶縁第2基板と、
前記第2基板上に形成され、小部分それぞれを複数の小ドメインに分割する第2ドメイン分割手段を有する共通電極と、
を含み、
前記複数の小ドメインは、その内部に分布する液晶の平均長軸方向によって分類される第1左右小ドメイン及び第2左右小ドメインと第1上下小ドメインとを含み、
前記第1上下小ドメイン及び前記第2左右小ドメインは、一の前記小部分を分割することで形成されており、前記第1上下小ドメインは前記第1配線に沿う方向に長辺を有し、前記第2左右小ドメインは前記第2配線に沿う方向に長辺を有し、かつ前記第2左右小ドメインは、前記第1上下小ドメインとその左右両側に位置する前記第2配線との間に配置されており、
前記第1左右小ドメインは、前記一の小部分とは異なる一の前記小部分を分割することで形成されており、前記第2配線に沿う方向に長辺を有し、かつ前記第1上下小ドメインの上下両側のうちの少なくとも一側に配置されている、液晶表示装置。 - 前記一の小部分とは異なる一の前記小部分は、前記第1左右小ドメインに加えてさらに第2上下小ドメインを有しており、
前記第2上下小ドメインは、前記第1配線に沿う方向に長辺を有し、前記第1左右小ドメインの上下両側のうちの少なくとも一側に配置されている、請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 隣接した二つの前記第2配線間の間隔は、前記第2配線の長さに沿って反復的に変化し、前記画素電極の前記第2配線と隣接した辺は、前記第2配線と同一なパターンを有し、前記画素電極は、幅が狭い部分と広い部分を有し、
前記画素電極の幅が狭い部分は、前記第1左右小ドメイン及び前記第2上下小ドメインに分割され、前記画素電極の幅が広い部分は、前記第1上下小ドメイン及び前記第2左右小ドメインに分割される、請求項2に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 隣接した二つの前記第2配線間の間隔は、第2配線の長さに沿って反復的に変化し、前記画素電極の前記第2配線と隣接した辺は前記第2配線と同一なパターンを有し、前記画素電極は幅が狭い部分と広い部分を有する、請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記画素電極の幅が狭い部分は、前記第1左右小ドメインに分割され、前記画素電極の幅が広い部分は、前記第1上下小ドメイン及び前記第2左右小ドメインに分割される、請求項4に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第1基板上に形成され、前記第2配線と絶縁されて交差している第3配線、及び前記第3配線と絶縁されて重なり、前記画素電極と電気的に連結されている保持容量用補助電極をさらに含む、請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記保持容量用補助電極は、前記第2ドメイン分割手段と重なっている、請求項6に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第2ドメイン分割手段は、前記共通電極が有している開口部であり、前記開口部は横方向開口部と縦方向開口部とを含み、前記横方向開口部は、第1のセクションと、前記第1のセクションの一端に接続する2つの第1分岐と、前記第1のセクションの他の一端に接続する2つの第2分岐と、を含み、前記画素電極の一つの小領域は2つの前記第1上下ドメイン及び2つの前記第2左右ドメインを含む、請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 第1絶縁基板と、
前記第1絶縁基板上に形成され、ゲート線とゲート電極を含むゲート配線と、
前記ゲート配線上に形成されているゲート絶縁膜と、
前記ゲート絶縁膜上に形成されている半導体層と、
前記半導体層上に形成され、前記ゲート線と交差するデータ線とソース電極及びドレーン電極を含むデータ配線と、
前記データ配線上に形成され、前記ドレーン電極を露出させる接触孔を有する保護膜と、
前記保護膜上に形成され、前記データ線及び前記ゲート線のうちの少なくとも一部と重なり、第1開口パターンによって複数の小部分に区分されている画素電極と、
前記第1絶縁基板と対向している第2絶縁基板と、
前記第2絶縁基板上に形成され、前記画素電極の小部分それぞれを複数の小ドメインに分割する第2開口パターンを有する共通電極と、
前記画素電極と前記共通電極との間に配置されている液晶層と、
を含み、
前記複数の小ドメインは、液晶層の内部に分布する液晶の平均長軸方向によって分類される第1左右小ドメイン、第2左右小ドメイン及び上下小ドメインを含み、
前記第1上下小ドメイン及び前記第2左右小ドメインは、一の前記小部分を分割することで形成されており、前記第1上下小ドメインは前記第1配線に沿う方向に長辺を有し、前記第2左右小ドメインは前記第2配線に沿う方向に長辺を有し、かつ前記第2左右小ドメインは、前記第1上下小ドメインと前記データ線との間に配置されており、
前記第1左右小ドメインは、前記一の小部分とは異なる一の前記小部分を分割することで形成されており、前記第2配線に沿う方向に長辺を有し、かつ前記第1左右小ドメインは、前記第1上下小ドメインの上下両側のうちの少なくとも一側に配置されている、液晶表示装置。 - 前記保護膜は、低誘電率CVD膜からなり厚さが2〜4μmの範囲である、請求項9に記載の液晶表示装置。
