Description
図2Aに図示した構成のサンプルを、高さ12μmのプリズム状構造を有する厚さ50μmの基板を有するプリズム状構造化フィルムを用いて作製した。プリズム状特徴の頂角は約90°であった。接着剤の薄いコーティングをスリーエム・シン・ブライトネス・エンハンスメント・フィルム(3M Thin Brightness Enhancement Film(TBEF))のシートの平面側に塗布してこれらのサンプルを作製した。TBEFの第2のシートをプリズム状溝が第1のシートの溝に対しておよそ90°配向した状態で接着剤に積層した。
異なるタイプの接着剤を用いて様々な層厚さに数個の交差TBEFフィルムの積層構造を形成した。構造を通過する光の輝度を測定して接着剤のない一組の交差TBEFフィルムに対して正規化した。その結果を図5に示す。フィルムを通過する角度に対する輝度分布を測定するオートロニック・コノスコープ(Autronic Conoscope)を用いて積層構造の光学輝度を測定した。
IOA/AAならびにIOA/AAまたはIOA/MA/AAおよびUV硬化性エポキシまたはウレタンの混合物を用いて作製した積層構造のサンプルを95%の相対湿度で100℃、85℃、および65℃の温度に1週間さらすことにより積層構造の環境安定性をテストした。サンプルはすべて目視検査に合格し、分離または気泡による失敗はなかった。これは気体が非常に容易に積層物内外に移動する能力による。サンプルはすべてある程度屈曲する。カーリングはダウンウェブ方向とクロスウェブ方向との間の膨張係数の差のため発生すると考えられる。接着剤は加熱環境で移動する場合があるため屈曲はサンプル中に残る。カーリングは、高ガラス転移温度を有する接着剤を用いることにより、高度に架橋させることにより、または膨張係数を一致させることにより減少し得る。屈曲はフィルム層がディスプレイ内で平坦に保持される場合は組立の問題にはならない。
実施例2で説明した異なる積層構造の接着剤特性をテストをして剥離強度を得た。
光学利得(輝度)、視野角、干渉模様、拡散、および欠陥を隠蔽する能力などの積層構造の光学特性は、すべて接着剤および/または積層技術により影響され得る。異なる接着剤タイプおよび厚さで作製した積層構造の水平および垂直視野角は図8Aおよび8Bに示したグラフにそれぞれ図示されている。各グラフにおいて積層構造を通過する光に対する相対輝度を垂線に対する角度の関数としてプロットした。最高利得に相当する曲線802および852は接着剤のない交差TBEFを用いて得られた。またこれらの曲線は最も狭い視野角に相当する。他のプロットはTBEFを用いた様々な積層構造に相当する。このプロットで用いた接着剤は異なる初期架橋レベルでのUAバージョンである。これらのプロットは積層構造の多用性を示している。視野角は変化し得るが、より柔軟なカットオフおよびより広い視野角が必要な用途において有用な特性である。なおより大きな視野角構造は接着力が高いため機械的により安定している。
Claims (6)
- リブ高さを有するそれぞれのプリズム状リブで構造化された第1の表面を有する第1の輝度向上光学フィルムと、
前記第1の光学フィルムの前記第1の表面と対向する第2の表面を有する第2の光学フィルムと、
前記第2の表面上の第1の接着剤層とを備え、前記第1の表面の前記プリズム状リブのうちの少なくともいくつかが前記第1の接着剤層を通って前記第2の表面まで貫入し、前記第1の接着剤層を通って前記第2の表面まで貫入している前記リブの前記リブ高さ未満の厚さを前記第1の接着剤層が有する、ディスプレイ内の光を管理する光管理フィルムパッケージであって、
前記第1の輝度向上光学フィルムが、前記第2の光学フィルムに、11.81g/cm以上の接着力で接着し、そして前記第1の層の接着剤の厚さが、前記第1の接着剤層を通って前記第2の表面まで貫入する前記リブの前記高さの20%未満である、光管理フィルムパッケージ。 - 前記第2の光学フィルムが、前記第1の光学フィルムに向けて配向されたリブなし表面と、前記第1の光学フィルムとは反対方向に向いた表面上に光指向リブ付きプリズムを有するプリズム状構造化表面とを有するプリズム状輝度向上フィルムである、請求項1に記載のフィルムパッケージ。
- 前記第2のフィルムの前記第2の表面上の前記光指向リブ付きプリズムが、前記第1のフィルムの前記プリズム状リブに垂直に配置されている、請求項2に記載のフィルムパッケージ。
- 第3の表面と前記第3の表面上の第2の接着剤層とを有する第3の光学フィルムをさらに備え、前記第2のフィルムのリブ付きプリズムのうちの少なくともいくつかが前記第2の接着剤層内に貫入している、請求項2又は3に記載のフィルムパッケージ。
- 前記第2の光学フィルムが反射型偏光子である、請求項1に記載のフィルムパッケージ。
- 照明ユニットと、
ディスプレイユニットと、
前記ディスプレイユニットに結合された、前記ディスプレイユニットにより表示される画像を制御する、コントローラと、
前記照明ユニットと前記ディスプレイユニットとの間に配置された請求項1〜5のいずれか1項に記載のフィルムパッケージとを備えるディスプレイシステム。
