Description
Claims (4)
- 第1のガラス基板と第2のガラス基板とを有する表示装置であって、
前記第1のガラス基板と前記第2のガラス基板とは、各々の主面同士を対向し、且つ枠状のシール材で貼り合わされて表示パネルを形成し、
前記第1のガラス基板は、前記主面に配線接続部を有し、
前記配線接続部は、前記第2のガラス基板から露出しており、
前記配線接続部に一端側を接続し、他端側を外部回路と接続する配線材と、
化学研磨保護膜が前記配線接続部と前記配線材を覆い、
前記表示パネルの側面、かつ前記シール材の側面に前記化学研磨保護膜を有し、
前記表示パネルの前記配線接続部に前記配線材が接続された後、前記化学研磨保護膜が形成され、前記化学研磨保護膜が形成された後、前記第1及び第2のガラス基板は化学研磨液によって研磨されたものであることを特徴とする表示装置。 - 請求項1において、
前記第1のガラス基板は薄膜トランジスタ基板で、前記第2のガラス基板は対向基板であり、前記シール材の内側に液晶を封入してなることを特徴とする表示装置。 - 請求項1において、
前記第1のガラス基板は薄膜トランジスタ基板で、前記第2のガラス基板は対向基板であり、前記シール材の内側、かつ前記第1のガラス基板の主面に有機EL発光層を形成してなることを特徴とする表示装置。 - 表示装置を構成する表示パネルのガラス基板の所要部分の板厚を薄く研磨する表示装置の製造方法であって、
第1のガラス基板と第2のガラス基板を表示パネル部分毎にシール剤で貼り合わせた複数枚取りのパネル母基板から1列×N枚又は2列×N枚(Nは2以上)の表示パネル毎に切断して短冊状ユニットとする短冊状ユニット形成工程と、
前記短冊状ユニットの各表示パネルの端子部に配線材を接続する配線材設置工程と、
前記短冊状ユニットの前記第1のガラス基板と第2のガラス基板の表面の全域、およびその側面の化学研磨で除去する部分を覆ってマスキング材を形成するマスキング工程と、
前記配線材とマスキング材を含めた前記短冊状ユニット全体を覆って化学研磨保護膜形成する化学研磨保護膜形成工程と、
前記マスキング材をその上の前記化学研磨保護膜と共に除去するマスキング材剥離工程と、
前記マスキング材の剥離で露出した前記第1のガラス基板と第2のガラス基板の前記表面および側面を化学研磨液によって研磨する化学研磨工程と、
を含む表示装置の製造方法。
