Description
少なくとも、前面基板と、バス電極と、前面基板に形成されバス電極の短手方向に併設されて表示ラインを形成する維持放電電極対と、概維持放電電極対を被覆する誘電体層と、背面基板と、背面基板に形成され維持放電電極対に対向し、バス電極の短手方向に延びるアドレス電極とを、各々が少なくとも備えた複数個の放電セルと、該複数個の放電セルの間を区画する隔壁を備えており、放電セルを二等分するバス電極の短手方向に延びる中心線を通過しないように、フローティング電極が維持放電電極対と同じ基板に配置されており、上記フローティング電極の、一つのバス電極の長手方向の長さが、放電セルの隔壁を除いたバス電極の長手方向の幅の20%以下であり、上記フローティング電極は、上記放電セルの内部に配置されていることを特徴とするプラズマディスプレイパネル。
有効放電領域において、このような放電痕が生成している領域は、全体の65%であった。即ち残りの35%は図7(A)に示す綺麗なMgOの結晶が残されていることがわかった。
結果を表1に示す。表に示すアドレス放電遅れtd、形成遅れtf、統計遅れtsは、前回の放電からの経過時間tが16msの値である。また寿命試験の点灯時間は1000時間、70kHzでの結果である。
図9に、図1の断面図を示す。図9(A)はT-T’、図9(B)はU-U’の一点鎖線で示した断面図であり、図9(C)はV-V’、図9(D)はW-W’の二点鎖線で示した断面図である。 ここで、dn(n=1、2...12)は図に示すとおり、X電極22−1またはXバス電極24−1またはY電極23−1またはYバス電極25−1と、フローティング電極65との最短の距離を示す。またh1は誘電体層26の厚みを示す。 誘電体層の厚み、およびdnの長さについての検討結果は実施例2で説明する。
上記フローティング電極65はX電極22−1、及びY電極23−1と同じ材料で行なったが、Xバス電極24−1、Yバス電極25−1と同じ材料でも良い。さらに静電誘導を引き起こす材料であればどのような材料でも良い。また図に示すようにフローティング電極65はX電極22−1、及びY電極23−1と同じ層に形成して行なったが、Xバス電極24−1、Yバス電極25−1と同じ層でも良い。もしくは、誘電体層26と保護膜27の間でも良い。
Claims (13)
- 少なくとも、前面基板と、バス電極と、前面基板に形成されバス電極の短手方向に併設されて表示ラインを形成する維持放電電極対と、概維持放電電極対を被覆する誘電体層と、背面基板と、背面基板に形成され維持放電電極対に対向し、バス電極の短手方向に延びるアドレス電極とを、各々が少なくとも備えた複数個の放電セルと、該複数個の放電セルの間を区画する隔壁を備えており、
放電セルを二等分するバス電極の短手方向に延びる中心線を通過しないように、フローティング電極が維持放電電極対と同じ基板に配置されており、
上記フローティング電極の、一つのバス電極の長手方向の長さが、放電セルの隔壁を除いたバス電極の長手方向の幅の20%以下であり、
上記フローティング電極は、上記放電セルの内部に配置されている
ことを特徴とするプラズマディスプレイパネル。 - 上記フローティング電極は、上記隔壁と離れた位置に配置されていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のプラズマディスプレイパネル。
- 上記フローティング電極が、透明導電膜または金属膜によって形成されていることを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載のプラズマディスプレイパネル。
- 上記フローティング電極が、維持放電電極対と同じ層に形成されていることを特徴とする請求項1乃至3の何れかに記載のプラズマディスプレイパネル。
- 上記フローティング電極が、維持放電電極対と同じ材料で形成されていることを特徴とする請求項1乃至4の何れかに記載のプラズマディスプレイパネル。
- 上記誘電体層が、ガラス層と該ガラス層を被覆するMgO膜で形成されていることを特徴とする請求項1乃至5の何れかに記載のプラズマディスプレイパネル。
- 上記フローティング電極がバス電極の長手方向に隣接する隣の放電セルへ連続して形成されていることを特徴とする請求項1乃至6の何れかに記載のプラズマディスプレイパネル。
- 上記維持放電電極対とフローティング電極との最短の距離が、誘電体層の厚みの半分であることを特徴とする請求項1乃至7の何れかに記載のプラズマディスプレイパネル。
- 上記誘電体の厚みが25μm以下であることを特徴とする請求項1乃至8の何れかに記載のプラズマディスプレイパネル。
- 上記アドレス電極の、上記背面基板から上記前面基板への射影成分が、上記フローティング電極を覆うようにアドレス電極を形成することを特徴とする請求項1乃至9の何れかに記載のプラズマディスプレイパネル。
- 維持放電電極対が互いに所定のギャップを挟んで対向し、上記ギャップ以外の領域にフローティング電極が形成されていることを特徴とする請求項1乃至10の何れかに記載のプラズマディスプレイパネル。
- 上記フローティング電極と上記隔壁とが対向していない部分の面積は、上記フローティング電極と上記隔壁とが対向している部分の面積よりも大きいことを特徴とする請求項1乃至11に記載のプラズマディスプレイパネル。
- 請求項1乃至12の何れかに記載のプラズマディスプレイパネルを用いた画像表示システム。
