Description
図8に示すように、セラミック基板などの絶縁基板1の上にガラス等からなる凸状の部分グレーズ層2が設けられ、さらにその上に金等の導電性材料からなる共通電極、該共通電極から延びる櫛歯状電極及び複数の個別電極(図9で後述する)が設けられ、さらに前記部分グレーズ層2上の個別電極及び櫛歯状電極上に酸化ルテニウム等からなる発熱抵抗体3が一直線に形成されている(部分グレーズ層を設けたサーマルヘッドの一例として特許文献2参照)。
また、ラベル紙をはじめ、感熱紙によっては紙厚が厚いものがあり、サーマルヘッドとの追従性を良くするために、前記プラテンローラ7の押圧を高く設定する傾向にある。
特にサーマルヘッドの用途が200mm/s以上程度の印字速度で使用される環境では、前記発熱によって生じた熱が蓄熱し易くなるため、耐摩耗性の確保が課題となる。
この対策として、保護層として熱伝導性の良好な導電性保護膜を前記絶縁性保護膜の上に設けたサーマルヘッドが提案されている(特許文献1参照)。
本発明は、前記した課題を解決するために、性能面の発色効率を維持しながら前記絶縁性保護膜が高い耐摩耗性を維持するサーマルヘッドを提供することにある。
前記部分グレーズ層2上の前記櫛歯状電極6a及び個別電極5(図9)に重なるように前記部分グレーズ層2上に発熱抵抗体3を設け、これら表面全体に絶縁性保護膜4を設ける。前記絶縁性保護膜4の材料として、例えば、PbO・SiO2・ZrO2系のガラス材料を用いる。
図3に示すように、前記絶縁性保護膜4を前記部分グレーズ層2を跨ぐように形成した後、前記部分グレーズ層2の両側でプラテンローラが感熱紙を押圧できる段差を有する高さに補助絶縁膜4c、4dを形成する。また、補助絶縁膜を予め前記セラミック基板1上に形成しておき、その後に前記部分グレーズ層2を跨ぐように絶縁性保護膜4を形成してもよい。
その結果、単位長さ当たりのプラテンローラの押圧は逆に(1/4.22)倍に減少し、このプラテンローラによる押圧の機械的なストレスが減少するため、前記部分グレーズ層2の上部に形成された前記絶縁性保護膜4aの摩耗が抑制されることになる。
前記表1に示す数値は、サーマルヘッドの前記絶縁保護膜上にインクを塗布し、プラテンローラの押圧後、塗布したインクの取れた領域(幅方向の寸法)を測定した結果を示すものである。
Claims (4)
- 絶縁基板上の長手方向に設けた部分グレーズ層と、
前記部分グレーズ層上に設けられた発熱抵抗体と、
前記発熱抵抗体を含む表面全体を覆う絶縁性保護膜と、
前記発熱抵抗体上の絶縁性保護膜と前記部分グレーズ層の領域外の平坦な絶縁性保護膜とが段差を有するサーマルヘッドであって、
前記段差は、前記発熱抵抗体上の絶縁性保護膜が高く、且つ、感熱紙を押圧するプラテンローラが、前記発熱抵抗体上の絶縁性保護膜と前記部分グレーズ層の領域外の平坦な絶縁性保護膜の前記部分グレーズ層に近い側の表面において、前記感熱紙を押圧することで前記プラテンローラの押圧力を分散する寸法を有することを特徴とするサーマルヘッド。 - 絶縁基板上の長手方向に設けた部分グレーズ層と、
前記部分グレーズ層上に設けられた発熱抵抗体と、
前記発熱抵抗体を含む表面全体を覆う絶縁性保護膜と、
前記発熱抵抗体上の絶縁性保護膜と前記部分グレーズ層の領域外の平坦な絶縁性保護膜とが段差を有するサーマルヘッドであって、
前記段差は、前記発熱抵抗体上の絶縁性保護膜が15μm高く、且つ、厚さ65μmの感熱紙を押圧するプラテンローラが、前記発熱抵抗体上の絶縁性保護膜と前記部分グレーズ層の領域外の平坦な絶縁性保護膜の前記部分グレーズ層に近い側の表面において、前記感熱紙を押圧することで前記プラテンローラの押圧力を分散することを特徴とするサーマルヘッド。 - 前記絶縁性保護膜は、PbO−SiO2−ZrO2系のガラス材でなることを特徴とする請求項1又は請求項2のサーマルヘッド。
- 請求項1、請求項2又は請求項3において、
前記絶縁性保護膜上に熱伝導率が9.628W/mKの導電性保護膜を設けたことを特徴とするサーマルヘッド。
