Claims (26)
- 1層以上のポリマーからなる第一層及び、1層以上のポリマーからなる第二層を有し、
前記第一層は、−0.005以上、+0.005以下の面外複屈折を示すポリマーを有し;
前記第二層は、+0.005より正である面外複屈折を示す非晶性ポリマーを有し;
全体の面内レターデーション(Rin)の大きさが、+20nmより正であり、かつ全体の面外レターデーション(Rth)が+20nmより正であり、
前記第二層の非晶性ポリマーは、N−ビニルカルバゾール又はアクリルカルバゾールをコモノマーとする非晶性ポリマーであり、かつガラス転移温度(Tg)が110℃≦Tg≦160℃である;
多層補償子。 - 前記第二層のうちの少なくとも1層が、N−ビニルカルバゾールとスチレンの共重合体を含む、請求項1に記載の多層補償子。
- 前記の層のうち少なくとも2つの層が隣接する、請求項1又は2に記載の多層補償子。
- 前記第一層及び前記第二層の全てが隣接する、請求項1又は2に記載の多層補償子。
- 前記複数の第二層を組み合わせた厚みが、30μm未満である、請求項1〜4のいずれか1項に記載の多層補償子。
- 前記複数の第二層を組み合わせた厚みが、1.0から30μmの範囲である、請求項1〜4のいずれか1項に記載の多層補償子。
- 前記複数の第二層を組み合わせた厚みが、1から8μmである、請求項1〜4のいずれか1項に記載の多層補償子。
- 全体の面内レターデーション(Rin)が、21から200nmである、請求項1〜7のいずれか1項に記載の多層補償子。
- 全体の面内レターデーション(Rin)が25から150nmである、請求項1〜7のいずれか1項に記載の多層補償子。
- 全体の面内レターデーション(Rin)が30から100nmである、請求項1〜7のいずれか1項に記載の多層補償子。
- 前記第一層と前記第二層とを組み合わせた厚みが200μm未満である、請求項1〜10のいずれか1項に記載の多層補償子。
- 前記第一層と前記第二層とを組み合わせた厚みが40から150μmである、請求項1〜10のいずれか1項に記載の多層補償子。
- 前記第一層と前記第二層とを組み合わせた厚みが60から110μmである、請求項1〜10のいずれか1項に記載の多層補償子。
- 前記第一層のうちの1層以上のポリマーが、セルロース系、アクリル系、若しくはオレフィン系ポリマー、又はフルオレン基を含有するポリアリレートを有する、請求項1〜13のいずれか1項に記載の多層補子。
- 前記第一層のうちの1層以上のポリマーが、トリアセチルセルロース、セルロースジアセテート、セルロースアセテートブチレート、ポリカーボネート、ノルボルネン基を含む環状ポリオレフィン、ポリスチレン、又はフルオレン基を含有するポリアリレートを有する、請求項1〜13のいずれか1項に記載の多層補子。
- 前記第二層の非晶性ポリマーのTgが、147℃≦Tg≦160℃である、請求項1〜15のいずれか1項に記載の多層補子。
- 前記第二層の非晶性ポリマーのTgが、142℃≦Tg≦160℃である、請求項1〜15のいずれか1項に記載の多層補子。
- 液晶セルと、該セルの各面に一枚ずつ設置されている一対の交差偏光子と、少なくとも1つの請求項1〜17のいずれか1項に記載の多層補償子と、を有する液晶ディスプレイ。
- 前記液晶セルが、垂直配向セル、ツイステッド・ネマティックセル、インプレーンスイッチングモードセル、又は光学補償ベント液晶セルである、請求項18に記載の液晶ディスプレイ。
- 液晶セルと、少なくとも1枚の偏光子と、反射板と、少なくとも1つの請求項1〜17のいずれか1項に記載の多層補償子と、を有する液晶ディスプレイ。
- 請求項1〜17のいずれか1項に記載の多層補償子を製造する方法であって、
ポリマーを有する1層以上からなる第一層上に、溶媒中に非晶性ポリマーを含有する1層以上の第二層をコーティング又は共流延する工程、及び
1層以上の前記第一層が、−0.005以上、0.005以下の面外(Δnth)複屈折を示し;
1層以上の前記第二層の非晶性ポリマーが、+0.005より正である面外複屈折を示し;
前記多層補償子全体の面内レターデーション(Rin)が+20nmより正であり、全体の面外レターデーション(Rth)が+20nmより正である、との条件を満足するように、前記第一層と前記第二層を同時に延伸する工程、
を有する補償子の製造方法。 - 前記第一層と前記第二層を同時に延伸する工程が、把具によって前記第一層と第二層の端部を保持するテンターによって前記第一層と第二層を幅方向に引き伸ばして、横方向の配向を誘起するものである、請求項21に記載の補償子の製造方法。
- 前記第一層と前記第二層を同時に延伸する工程が、異なる周速に制御された2つの前後に配置された回転ロール間に、第一層と前記第二層を、固定端あるいは自由端で通すことによって機械方向の配向を誘起する工程を含む、請求項21に記載の補償子の製造方法。
- 前記第一層及び第二層を、機械方向及び横方向に、同時又は逐次に延伸する、請求項21に記載の補償子の製造方法。
- 前記延伸工程が、前記多層フィルムの少なくとも2辺を拘束する工程と、前記第一層、並びに第二層を加熱によって乾燥させる工程と、を有する、請求項21に記載の製造方法。
- さらに、前記第一層、及び第二層を乾燥させて、溶媒を実質的に除去する工程の後に、前記第一層、及び第二層を加熱後に延伸する工程を有する、請求項21に記載の製造方法。
