本発明は、一般に、医療用のデバイスおよび方法に関する。より特定すると、本発明は、閉塞した脈管内病巣を処置するための、超音波カテーテルデバイスおよび方法に関する。

本発明の超音波カテーテルデバイスおよび方法は、一般に、閉塞性の脈管内病巣の増強された処置を提供する。カテーテルデバイスは、一般に、カテーテル本体、このカテーテル本体に内部に配置された超音波エネルギー伝達部材、およびこのエネルギー伝達部材に接続されてこのカテーテル本体の遠位端に隣接して配置された遠位ヘッドを備える。この超音波伝達部材は、超音波エネルギーを、超音波変換器から遠位ヘッドへと伝達し、このヘッドを振動させ、これによって、脈管の閉塞物を破壊する。このような超音波カテーテルデバイスの多数の改善された特徴が、以下により完全に記載される。
Claims (35)
- 血管内の閉塞物を破壊するための超音波カテーテルであって、該超音波カテーテルは、患者の身体のアクセス部位から、閉塞物に隣接する標的部位へとガイドされ得、該超音波カテーテルは、以下:
細長い可撓性のカテーテル本体であって、該カテーテル本体は、近位部分、遠位部分、および少なくとも1つの管腔を有し、該遠位部分は、該カテーテル本体の該近位部分の近くよりも、該カテーテル本体の遠位端の近くにおいて、より可撓性である、細長い可撓性のカテーテル本体;
超音波伝達部材であって、該超音波伝達部材は、該カテーテル本体の該管腔を通って長手軸方向に延び、そして近位端および遠位端を有し、該超音波伝達部材は、該近位端の近くよりも、該遠位端の近くにおいて、より可撓性である、超音波伝達部材;

- 前記超音波カテーテルおよび前記ガイドワイヤが、前記血管における複数の屈曲部に沿って進められるように構成されており、該カテーテルのカテーテル本体と、前記超音波伝達部材と、前記ガイドワイヤとが、該複数の屈曲部に付随して適合するために十分に可撓性である、請求項28に記載のシステム。
- 前記超音波カテーテルの近位ハウジングに半径方向の力を付与して、該超音波カテーテルの遠位端を、前記血管内で、半径方向に曲げるための手段をさらに備える、請求項28に記載のシステム。
