Description
本発明は、再建外科用アモルファス合金を含むインプラントを提供する。本発明の1つの態様は、アモルファス合金を含む外科用留具を提供する。この文脈で使われている「外科用留具」との語は、組織を所定の位置に保持するために使うことができる移植可能なデバイスを指す。そのような留具の例としては、クランプ、クリップ、シース、縫合糸、及びステープルが挙げられるが、それらに限定されない。かかる外科用留具は一時的なもの(例えば、外科的切開を閉じる際に役立つが、その組織が治癒すれば除去される、除去可能なステープル)であってもよいし、永久的なもの(例えば、変位した靭帯又は腱の正しい位置を回復するために骨に留められているクリップ)であってもよい。
本発明は、アモルファス合金を含む移植可能な外科用布帛を提供する。これらの布帛におけるアモルファス合金の存在は、布帛を構造的に補強すること、及び/又は、布帛に有害な放射線を遮断する能力を付与することを含め、多様な目的に役立てられる。医療処置の間、(例えば、危険な放射線を伴う処置の間、患者又は操作技師の体の部位を覆う布帛として)かかる布帛を体内又は体外で用いてもよい。
ステントとは、外科的に体腔内に挿入して体腔を拡張するため又は体腔を確実に開放した状態に保つための、チューブ状のインプラントである。ステントは、脈管系、胆管系、泌尿器生殖器系、消化器系、及び呼吸器系の導管をはじめとする、体内における多くの導管の修復に使用されてきた。
信頼性のある永久的な人工心臓弁の設計及び作製には、材料を慎重に選択し、多くの様々な要素を熟考することが必要である。人工心臓弁は、体内の腐食環境に耐えられるものでなくてはならない。こうした腐食環境は、移植した心臓弁によって生じた免疫原反応の結果、並びに、電解質が血流及び周辺組織内に存在する結果、生じるものであり、人工心臓弁中の金属製構成部分を酸化及び/又は腐食させる可能性がある。また、人工心臓弁は、40,000,000回に上る開閉の心臓収縮サイクルの間に経験せざるをえない反復的な歪みに耐えられる材料で作製しなくてはならない。大量の血流中では弁の位置次第で、生体適合性におけるごく瑣末な問題が、高確率で弁が故障する事態へと変化する。また、その副作用にもかかわらず、血液の抗凝固薬を用いた非常に積極的で永久的な治療が必要になる場合もある。
本発明はアモルファス合金を含む整形外科用インプラントをも意図するものである。いくつかの実施形態においては、かかる整形外科用インプラントは、靭帯及び腱を修復する再建用金属製品の形態となっている。そうした再建用金属製品の例としては、ワイヤー、スプリング、網などが挙げられるが、それらに限定されない。高い疲労限界、塑性変形への耐性、良好な生体適合性、並びに耐酸化性及び耐食性を示すアモルファス合金から、かかる再建用金属製品を適切に作製することができる。加熱押出し及び機械加工などの当該技術で周知の製造方法で、再建用金属製品を作製してもよい。
本発明は、アモルファス合金を含む歯列矯正用インプラントを提供する。本発明が意図する歯列矯正用インプラントには、永久的インプラント(例えば組織成長リミッター)及び一時的インプラント(例えば、歯列を再調製するための歯列矯正用ブレースに使う歯列矯正用ワイヤー及びブレース)が含まれる。
歯列矯正用ブレースに使用されるワイヤーは、厳しい力学的及び化学的要件を満たすものでなくてはならない。例えば、最初の挿入ステップで、歯に固定されている帯金又は固定デバイスにワイヤーを係止する際に、破損しないワイヤーでなくてはならない。いったん所定の位置に納まった後は、矯正歯科医が設定した一定の張力及び患者が食事をする際に生じる反復的な機械的応力に耐えられるワイヤーでなくてはならない。また、たとえ患者が酸性食品又は塩分の多い食品を摂取した場合でも、腐食しにくいワイヤーでなくてはならない。
本発明は、口腔用又は歯列矯正用インプラントのための、アモルファス合金を含む組織成長リミッターを提供する。いくつかの実施形態においては、かかる組織成長リミッターは、アモルファス合金製物品のみからなる。一方、他の実施形態においては、アモルファス合金製物品が他の生体適合性材料及び/又はバイオソープション可能な材料と組み合わされている。本発明が意図する組織成長リミッターの例としては、シース、網、及びここに記載した外科用布帛のような布帛が挙げられるが、それらに限定されない。
Claims (4)
- 少なくとも1つのアモルファス合金を含み、かつ、コーティングが施されているモノフィラメント縫合糸であることを特徴とする移植可能な外科用留具。
- コーティングが、ポリマー材料を含むことを特徴とする請求項1記載の移植可能な外科用留具。
- ポリマー材料が、吸収性ポリマーであることを特徴とする請求項2記載の移植可能な外科用留具。
- コーティングが、治癒促進剤を含むことを特徴とする請求項1記載の移植可能な外科用留具。
