Description
ここでは、中心部(全体の外径に対して0.25倍の外径領域)にGeO2を添加して屈折率を比屈折率差換算で0.35%上昇させたガラスロッド(直径30mm)をVADスス付および塩素脱水焼結により調整し、このガラスロッドの外周部に対してガラス微粒子を堆積させて直径300mmのガラス微粒子堆積体とした。このガラス微粒子堆積体に対して比較例1の製造方法に略準拠して焼結を行った。
Claims (7)
- シリカガラス微粒子を堆積させてガラス微粒子堆積体を作成し、このガラス微粒子堆積体を加熱炉内で加熱し透明化してシリカガラス体を製造する方法であって、
前記加熱炉内の全圧が10kPa以上の雰囲気ガスの中で、前記ガラス微粒子堆積体の粘度が1010.5P以上である温度で、前記ガラス微粒子堆積体を加熱する第1工程と、
前記第1工程の後に、前記加熱炉内の全圧が100Pa以下の雰囲気ガスの中で、前記第1工程における温度より高い温度で、前記ガラス微粒子堆積体を加熱して透明化する第2工程と、
を備えることを特徴とするガラス体製造方法。 - 前記第1工程において加熱温度を800℃〜1300℃の範囲内とすることを特徴とする請求項1記載のガラス体製造方法。
- 前記第1工程において前記加熱炉内の雰囲気ガスの標準状態でのH2O分圧を100Pa以下とすることを特徴とする請求項1記載のガラス体製造方法。
- 前記第1工程において前記加熱炉内の雰囲気ガスの全圧を50kPa以上とすることを特徴とする請求項1記載のガラス体製造方法。
- 前記第1工程において前記加熱炉内の雰囲気ガスの全圧を10kPa以上に維持しつつ変動幅10kPa以上で変動させることを特徴とする請求項1記載のガラス体製造方法。
- 前記ガラス微粒子堆積体は略円柱形状であって直径が150mm以上であることを特徴とする請求項1記載のガラス体製造方法。
- 前記ガラス微粒子堆積体はガラスロッドの周囲にシリカガラス微粒子が堆積されたものであることを特徴とする請求項1記載のガラス体製造方法。
