Description
本発明は、金属サブストレートの腐食の抑制に関する。本明細書中で用いられる「腐食の抑制」という語は、限られないが、一般的に、金属が、水若しくは空気、またはこの2つの組み合わせに曝された際の、金属表面の酸化の防止またはその酸化の速度の減少を含む。金属の酸化は、電気化学反応であり、一般的に、表面からの金属の減少、または金属の表面における酸化生成物の蓄積を生ずる。本明細書中で用いられる「金属」という語は、限られないが、スチール、鋳鉄、アルミニウム、金属合金およびそれらの組み合わせを含む。1つの態様において、金属サブストレートは、エアゾール缶である。
上記した、防食性の炭酸第四級アンモニウム、重炭酸第四級アンモニウムおよびそれらの混合物を、金属サブストレートのための防食性コーティング中に取り込むことができる。本発明のコーティングは、コーティング材料を含む。好ましくは、炭酸第四級アンモニウム、重炭酸第四級アンモニウムまたはそれらの混合物を、コーティング材料中に溶解または分散する。
上記した腐食抑制剤組成物は、これらの溶液を用いて洗浄される金属部品、特にスチールの腐食を遅らせ、且つ最小限にするための水性洗浄溶液の成分として、特に有用である。これらは、水性または非水性の金属加工流体の成分として有用であり、および粉末冶金において腐食抑制剤として用いられる水性溶液または非水性溶液の成分としても有用である。腐食抑制剤組成物は、また、これらが適用される金属等のサブストレートに、抗菌保護を提供する。本発明の目的上、「洗浄溶液」という語は、例えば、プロセス装置の内部金属表面のような金属表面の洗浄において用いられる水性の酸性溶液またはアルカリ性溶液を指す。これらの洗浄溶液は、典型的に、約1〜約10の範囲のpHを有する。例示的な洗浄溶液とその使用は、種々の特許、例えば、米国特許第3,413,160号、第4,637,899号、再発行特許第30,796号および再発行特許第30,714号に開示される。本発明の洗浄溶液組成物は、該溶液と接触する金属の腐食を抑制する有効量で存在する上記組成物である腐食抑制剤と共に、アルキレンポリアミンポリカルボン酸、ヒドロキシ酢酸、ギ酸、クエン酸およびそれらの混合物若しくはそれらの塩から成る群から選択される少なくとも1種の有機酸を含み得る。例示的な有機酸は、N,N,N’,N’−エチレンジアミン四酢酸(EDTA)、テトラアンモニウムEDTA、ジアンモニウムEDTA、N−(2−ヒドロキシエチル)−N,N’,N’−エチレンジアミン三酢酸(HEDTA)およびそれらの塩を含む。これらの水性洗浄溶液は、典型的に、約1〜約10のpHを示す。腐食抑制剤(すなわち、炭酸第四級アンモニウム、重炭酸第四級アンモニウムまたはそれらの混合物)の例示的な量は、約0.05重量パーセント〜約1重量パーセントである。例示的な有機酸洗浄溶液は、米国特許第6,521,028号に記載されるものを含む。
本実験の目的は、エンジン洗浄剤配合物による脂ぎった汚れの除去を試験することであった。7.5gの植物油(クリスコ(Crisco)(登録商標)、J.M.スマッカー社(The J. M. Smucker Co.)、オービル(Orville)、オハイオ)と、0.1gのカーボンブラックの混合物を、液化するまで加熱した。0.5gの加熱された混合物を、金属クーポン(Q−パネルラボプロダクツ(Q-Panel Lab Products)、クリーブランド、オハイオから入手できる0.813×25.4×76.2mm3(0.032”×1”×3”)寸法のスチールクーポン)上に散布し、乾燥させた。続いて、金属クーポンを、以下の表1に詳細に述べる、モルホリンまたは炭酸ジデシルジメチルアンモニウム/重炭酸ジデシルジメチルアンモニウム(DDACB)を含む50mlの配合物中に部分的に浸した。1時間後、金属クーポンを配合物から取り出し、水ですすいだ。視覚的評価を、どれくらいの脂ぎった汚れが、金属クーポンの浸した部分から除かれたかについて行った。結果を、表1に述べる。
冷間圧延スチールクーポン(0.813×25.4×76.2mm3(0.032”×1”×3”)寸法の軟鋼クーポン(Q−パネルラボプロダクツ、クリーブランド、オハイオ))を、ねじ蓋を有する、120ml(4オンス)のガラスの広口瓶中で、脱イオン水または水道水のいずれかの中に、並びに100若しくは1000ppmの炭酸/重炭酸ジデシルジメチルアンモニウム(DDACB)混合物を含む脱イオン水、または100若しくは1000ppmの炭酸ジデシルジメチルアンモニウム/重炭酸ジデシルジメチルアンモニウム(DDACB)混合物を含む水道水のいずれかの中に完全に浸した。各溶液は、2つのクーポン(それぞれ、クーポン1〜10およびA〜J)を用いて試験された。1週間後、クーポンを取り出し、脱イオン水または水道水のいずれかですすぎ、柔らかなナイロンブラシで軽くブラシをかけた。その後、クーポンを窒素流下で乾燥し、検量した。結果を、下記の表2に述べる。重量の違いを、重量減少については(−)として、重量増加については(+)として表現した。全ての重量の違いは、それぞれのクーポンの最初の重量に基づいて、パーセントで与えられる。
脱イオン水(58.2%w/w)、界面活性剤(オクチルジメチルアミンオキシド(40%活性)、FMB−A08(登録商標)、ロンザ社(Lonza, Inc.)、フェアローン、ニュージャージー)(8.0%w/w)、並びに第四級化合物(ジデシルジメチルアンモニウムクロライド(DDAC)、または炭酸ジデシルジメチルアンモニウム/重炭酸ジデシルジメチルアンモニウム混合物(DDACB))の50%水性溶液(33.8%w/w)を互いに混合した。
