△Sig=(Sig−init)−(Sig−cur) (1)
(1)式と予め測定されたトナー濃度1wt%変動当たりの出力感度値rateにより、その時のトナー濃度の初期からのずれ量△Dを算出する。
△D=△Sig/rate (2)
上記△Dの計算値により、現像容器内に補給されるトナー量が決定される。つまり、トナー濃度の初期からのずれ量がマイナスの場合はそのずれ量に見合う分のトナー量を補給し、又プラスの場合は、補給を停止する。例えば、△D=−1wt%の時は、1wt%相当のトナーを補給し、又、△D=+1wt%の時は補給をしない。このようにして初期のトナー濃度を維持するような制御が行われる。

Claims (2)
- 像担持体と、前記像担持体に形成された潜像をトナーとキャリアを有する現像剤にて現像する現像装置と、前記現像装置内のトナー濃度を検知するトナー濃度検知手段と、前記トナー濃度検知手段の検知結果とトナー濃度基準値に基いて、前記補給手段の補給量が補給量下限値以上、補給量上限値以下となるように前記現像装置へのトナー補給量を制御する制御手段と、記録材に形成されるトナー画像の面積量が大きくなるに従い、前記補給量下限値及び前記補給量上限値が大きくなるように前記補給量下限値及び前記補給量上限値を変更する変更手段と、を有することを特徴とする画像形成装置。
- 前記現像装置内の現像剤を用いて形成されたトナー画像の濃度を検知する画像濃度検知手段を有し、前記画像濃度検知手段の出力と画像濃度基準値とにより前記トナー濃度基準値を補正し、
今回の画像濃度検知手段による検知結果が前記画像濃度基準値よりも大きく、かつ、前回の画像濃度検知手段による検知結果が前記画像濃度基準値より小さい場合、
または、
今回の画像濃度検知手段による検知結果が前記画像濃度基準値よりも小さく、かつ、前回の画像濃度検知手段による検知結果が前記画像濃度基準値より大きい場合、現時点での前記トナー濃度検知手段による検知結果を、前記トナー濃度基準値とすることを特徴とする請求項1の画像形成装置。
