Abstract
【解決手段】リーダー/ライタと信号の送受信を行うためのアンテナ3と、アンテナ3が接続されるICチップ1と、を備え、アンテナ3が形成される絶縁層上の外周端縁よりも内側部分に複数の接続端子5A,5Bを備え、絶縁層上の外周端縁と複数の接続端子5A,5Bとの間の距離を内外方向の幅として絶縁層上の外周全域又は外周略全域に環状のアンテナ形成領域を備え、アンテナ3は、一方の接続端子5Aを始点とし、他方の接続端子5Bを終点としてアンテナ形成領域内を導体ラインが周回するようにループ状に形成されている。

ここで、Lは等価インダクタンス、Cは入出力端子5A,5B間に発生するICチップの等価容量である。
上記式から必要なコイルのインダクタンスLは、
L=1/(2πf)2×Cとなる。
つまり、共振周波数fをUHF帯である920MHz(865MHz〜928MHzの任意の値でもよい)に設定しようとすると、L及びCのうちの一方の値を決めれば、他方の値が決まることになる。ところで、Cが、ICチップ1毎に決定される固有の値となるので、Cの値に基づいてLの値を適宜設定する。Lの値を決定するのは、導体ライン3aのアスペクト比、線幅L、導体ライン3a,3a同士間の距離Sであり、これらの値は、前述した範囲内に設定することになる。これらの値を設定することによって、絶縁層上の外周縁に導体ライン3A,3aを寄せて導体パターン3を形成することができる。これによって、アンテナの半径を大きくすることができるだけでなく、巻数も多くすることができる。よって、導体ラインに流れる電流に対する抵抗を抑えつつ、アンテナの半径を大きくすることができるので、アンテナゲイン(利得)を高くしてアンテナ効率(通信距離)の向上を図ることができる。
また、コイルのインダクタンスLとコイルの断面積Sと巻数Nの関係は、
L=AN2Sである。尚、Aは定数である。
上記式から、巻数Nが多くなり、コイルの断面積Sが大きくなると、インダクタンスLを大きくでき、共振周波数を小さく(低く)できる。
ICチップ1の上面を、絶縁層としてPI(ポリイミド)でコートする。その上から、メッキ加工のためのシード層をスパッタでコートする。その上から、アンテナパターンを積層するためのモールドをフォトレジストで形成する。続いて、メッキ工程に移り、アンテナパターンを積層する。この後、前記モールド層を除去してから、露出している不要なシード層を除去する。この後、アンテナパターンを保護する保護膜をPI(ポリイミド)でコートして、RFIDタグの製造を終了する。
また、前記アンテナ形成領域は、前記絶縁層上の外周略全域に形成され、前記アンテナは、最外周の導体ラインが接続される接続端子の内側に導体ラインが巻かれて形成されることにより、前記接続端子に接続される最外周の導体ラインが内側に巻かれた導体ラインに重ならないように構成されていてもよい。
Claims (5)
- リーダー/ライタと信号の送受信を行うためのアンテナと、該アンテナが接続されるICチップと、を備えるRFIDタグであって、
前記アンテナが形成される絶縁層上の外周端縁よりも内側部分に複数の接続端子を備え、前記絶縁層上の外周端縁と前記複数の接続端子との間の距離を内外方向の幅として該絶縁層上の外周全域又は外周略全域に環状のアンテナ形成領域を備え、前記アンテナは、前記一方の接続端子を始点とし、前記他方の接続端子を終点として前記アンテナ形成領域内を導体ラインが周回するようにループ状に形成され、前記導体ラインのアスペクト比が、1.0〜5.0の範囲に設定され、前記径方向で隣り合う導体ラインの線幅が略同一であり、前記線幅が、2μm〜7μmの範囲に設定され、かつ、前記径方向で隣り合う導体ライン同士間の距離が、2μm〜7μmの範囲に設定されていることを特徴とするRFIDタグ。 - 前記アンテナ巻数が、1.5〜10の巻数であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のRFIDタグ。
- 前記絶縁層は、前記ICチップのパッケージであり、前記アンテナは、前記ICチップのパッケージ上に備えていることを特徴とする請求項1又は請求項2に記載のRFIDタグ。
- 前記絶縁層は、前記ICチップのパッケージであり、前記アンテナは、前記ICチップのパッケージ上に備えるアンテナと略同一周波数で動作するブースタアンテナを備えていることを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載のRFIDタグ。
- 前記アンテナは、UHF帯で無線通信することを特徴とする請求項1〜4のうちのいずれか1項に記載のRFIDタグ。
