Abstract
Description
キャリアフィルムは、複数のポリエステル副層の複合体であり得る。
本発明に係る界面活性剤の組込みによって、100g/インチ(40g/cm)未満、好ましくは約50g/インチ(19.7g/cm)未満、より好ましくは20g/インチ(7.9g/cm)未満の金属付着を提供することができる。
厚さ:総フィルム厚さは、10枚のシートの堆積を用い、測定を10で割ることにより、マイクロメーターによって測定した。測定を、ウェブの横方向において9インチ(3.5cm)ごとに繰り返した。多層フィルムのそれぞれの共押出層の厚さは、すべての層の総押出流量に対する対応する押出流量の比によって算出した。
二層PETキャリアフィルムを、隣接するスキン層A及び基層Bを共押し出しすることによって調製した。不活性充填剤粒子を、フィルム形成単位のそれぞれの溶融ポリマー材料中に分散させた。層の厚さ及び組成を表Iに示す。粒子の濃度及びサイズによって、層の外側表面に異なる表面の粗さが生じた。本発明に係る金属剥離剤は、層中に含まれていなかった。外側層の表面抵抗率は、1016オーム/平方程度の大きさであった。この比較例及び他の例の分析結果を表IIに示す。また、層A及びBの表面は、40ダイン/cm(4Pa・cm)の表面張力によって示されるように、PETフィルムの一般的な表面エネルギーも有していた。
0.48%の濃度のドデシルベンゼンスルホン酸ナトリウムである、剥離剤の界面活性剤粒子をスキン層Aに均一に分散させた以外は、二層PETキャリアフィルムを比較例1と同様に調製した。層Aの表面抵抗率は非常に低減し(1011オーム/平方程度の大きさ)、表面張力は、53.5ダイン/cm(5.35Pa・cm)を超える表面張力に増加した。キャリアフィルムに、2.5の吸光度のアルミニウムをコーティングした。金属付着を測定したところ、45.7g/インチ(18.0g/cm)であった。これは、比較例1と比較して有意な低減を示す。層Bの表面抵抗率は、(比較例1と比較して)わずかに低下したが、依然として1014レベルにあった。
アルカンスルホネート(alkane sulphonate)(0.06%)と硫酸ナトリウム(0.003%)の剥離剤の界面活性剤のブレンドをスキン層Aに組み込んだこと以外は、実施例2の手順を繰り返した。層Aの表面抵抗率は、1016の大きさであった。アルミニウム金属被覆に続いて、金属付着を測定したところ、26.7g/インチ(10.5g/cm)であった。この転写フィルムは、金属転写フィルムに適していた。
界面活性剤の剥離剤として、スキン層A中0.015%の脂肪族スルホネートに代えたこと以外は、実施例2の手順を繰り返した。表面抵抗率は、1012オーム/平方程度の大きさの比較的低い値まで低減した。2.5の吸光度の厚さのアルミニウムによる金属層をスキン層にコーティングした後、金属付着を測定したところ、11.2g/インチ(4.4g/cm)の非常に許容可能な値であった。
界面活性剤の剥離剤の濃度を0.03%に倍増したこと以外は、実施例4の手順を繰り返した。層Aの抵抗率は1010の範囲まで低下した。2.5の吸光度のアルミニウムを堆積した後、金属付着も、11.2g/インチ(4.41g/cm)まで低下し、これは、多くの金属転写工程に非常に良好であることが分かった。
これらの実施例では、剥離剤として機能する陰イオン/非イオン界面活性剤の混合物によって、実施例2の手順を繰り返した。実施例6では、界面活性剤の濃度は1.2%であり、実施例8では、この濃度を2.0%まで上昇させた。また、B層の抵抗率は、1014レベルに維持された。界面活性剤を含有する層Aは、比較例1と比較して、ほぼ等しい有意な抵抗率の減少を示した。アルミニウムをコーティングした後、1.2%の界面活性剤試料の金属付着は、7.9g/インチ(2.8g/cm)で、適切な金属転写フィルムの範囲内で良好であった。2.0%まで界面活性剤の濃度を上昇させると、6g/インチ(2.4g/cm)まで更に金属付着が低下した。
層Aのポリマーを、新しい50%PETと50% Auriga PET樹脂「8428」のブレンドとしたこと以外は、実施例2の手順を繰り返した。Auriga PET樹脂は、界面活性剤を含有している。層Aの表面抵抗率は比較例1と変わらなかったが、アルミニウム層へのキャリアフィルムの金属付着は、金属転写フィルムの十分許容可能な範囲内である33.3g/インチ(13.1g/cm)まで低減した。
0.48%のドデシルベンゼンスルホン酸ナトリウムを、厚い層B及び層Aに加えたこと以外は、実施例2の手順を繰り返した。両方の層中の界面活性剤の存在により、両方の表面の抵抗率は、およそ1011レベルまで低下した。アルミニウムによる2.5の吸光度への金属被覆後、層Aの金属付着を測定したところ、6.3g/インチ(2.5g/cm)であった。この結果は、層A中の同じレベルの同じ界面活性剤による効果が、隣接する層B中の界面活性剤によって非常に高められたという点で、層間の相互作用を示唆する。
1.2%の混合陰イオン/非イオン界面活性剤を、厚い層B及び層Aに組み込んだこと以外は、実施例6の手順を繰り返した。この実施例と実施例6を比較すると、分析結果が、実施例9に多少類似していた(analagous)と考えられる。A層及びB層の表面抵抗率はともに、比較例1と比較して、4桁の大きさで低下した。さらに、層Aの4.8g/インチ(1.9g/cm)の金属付着は、比較例1よりも有意に低く、実施例6の6g/インチ(2.4g/cm)よりもわずかに低かった。したがって、層間の一部の相互作用が、層Aの金属付着値における両層の同じ剥離剤の界面活性剤の存在によるものであるという示唆と一致する。
層Bの添加剤の組成を変更したこと以外は、実施例8の手順を繰り返した。まず、0.06%で層Bに組み込まれた0.3μmポリスチレン粒子を、0.3%の2.4μmシリカ粒子に代えた。さらに、層Bには、0.05%のパラフィンワックス系剥離剤が含まれていた。分析結果は、層Aの表面抵抗率が、実施例8と同様に、1010レベルまで低下し、金属付着が、2g/インチ(0.8g/cm)の非常に低い値まで低減することを示した。さらに、低い金属付着値は、層Bからのワックスが、層Aの表面上への付着に影響を及ぼすという示唆を裏付けている。また、実施例11は、53.5ダイン/cm(5.35Pa・cm)を超える比較的高い表面エネルギーも有する。
三層PETフィルムのキャリアフィルムを、A/B/C組成及び構造を共押し出しすることによって調製する。スキン層A及びCはともに、表面テクスチャを修正するための同一の炭酸カルシウム/酸化アルミニウム粒子パッケージ、及び2.0%濃度の混合陰イオン/非イオン界面活性剤の剥離剤を有する。基層Bには、シリカ粒子成分と、0.013%のパラフィンワックス系剥離剤とが含まれる。層Aの表面に、2.5の吸光度に相当する厚さのアルミニウムで金属化した。金属層へのキャリアフィルムの金属付着は、5.1g/インチ(2.0g/cm)であった。
Claims (20)
- 単一の基層からなる金属転写用途のフィルムであって、該フィルムは、外側表面及び約4〜75μmの厚さを有し、前記基層は、主に、ポリエステルと剥離剤の組み合わせであって、該剥離剤は、エチレン・アクリル酸重合ポリマーを使用した180度剥離試験によって測定される約1〜100g/インチ(0.4〜40g/cm)の範囲において、金属に対するあらかじめ選択された付着値を、前記外側表面に提供するのに有効な量で前記フィルムに均一に分散されることを特徴とする前記フィルム。
- 前記フィルムの前記外側表面に対する金属付着が、前記あらかじめ選択された付着値の±10g/インチ(±10g/インチ4)の範囲内にあることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のフィルム。
- 前記フィルムが二軸配向され、前記ポリエステルがポリエチレンテレフタレート(PET)であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のフィルム。
- 前記剥離剤が、陰イオン界面活性剤、非イオン界面活性剤又はこれらの混合物からなる群より選択される界面活性剤を含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のフィルム。

- 前記フィルムが、前記基層の一方の面上のポリエステルの第1のスキン層から更になり、該第1のスキン層が、前記フィルムの外側表面を画定し、前記フィルムのすべての層が、ポリエステルから本質的になることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のフィルム。
- 前記基層と前記第1のスキン層との間に少なくとも1つのポリエステルの内側層を更に備えることを特徴とする請求項6に記載のフィルム。
- 前記剥離剤が、前記第1のスキン層中にのみ含まれることを特徴とする請求項6に記載のフィルム。
- 前記第1のスキン層とは反対側の基層の側にポリエステルの第2のスキン層を更に備えることを特徴とする請求項6に記載のフィルム。
- 前記基層と、前記第1のスキン層及び前記第2のスキン層のうちの1つ又は両方との間に少なくとも1つのポリエステルの内側層を更に備えることを特徴とする請求項9に記載のフィルム。
- 前記外側表面に直接接して付着される金属の転写可能な層が更に含まれ、前記金属が、アルミニウム、銅、銀、チタン及びこれらのブレンドからなる群より選択され、前記転写可能な層の厚さが、0.01〜4の吸光度に相当することを特徴とする請求項1又は6に記載のフィルム。
- 基材に金属を転写する方法であって、該方法は、
(A)
(i)キャリアフィルムであって、該キャリアフィルムが、4〜75μmの厚さ及び外側表面を有し、前記キャリアフィルムが単一の基層からなり、前記キャリアフィルムが、ポリエステルと剥離剤のブレンドから本質的になり、前記剥離剤が、エチレン・アクリル酸重合ポリマーを使用した180度剥離試験によって測定される約1〜100g/インチ(0.4〜40g/cm)の範囲において、金属に対するあらかじめ選択された付着値を前記外側表面に提供するのに有効な量で前記キャリアフィルムに均一に分散されたことを特徴とするキャリアフィルムと、
(ii)前記外側表面と直接接して堆積された金属の転写可能な層であって、約0.2〜4.0の範囲の吸光度に相当する金属厚さを有することを特徴とする転写可能な層と、
からなる金属転写フィルムを設ける工程と、
(B)接着剤層がコーティングされた表面を有する基材物品を設ける工程と、
(C)前記金属転写フィルムの前記転写可能な層を、前記基材物品の前記接着剤層と接触させて、前記金属転写フィルムを前記基材物品の前記接着剤層に接合する工程と、
(D)金属層から前記キャリアフィルムを剥離することによって、前記金属層を前記基材物品に転写する工程と、
を含むことを特徴とする前記方法。 - 前記剥離剤が、陰イオン界面活性剤、非イオン界面活性剤及びこれらの混合物からなる群より選択される界面活性剤を含むことを特徴とする請求項12に記載の方法。
- 前記キャリアフィルムに、前記ポリエステル中に分散した約0.1〜1重量%のパラフィンワックスが含まれることを特徴とする請求項13に記載の方法。
- 前記金属転写フィルムを設ける工程が、熱可塑性ポリエステル樹脂及び剥離剤を含む混合物を得ることと、該混合物を効果的に加熱し、熱可塑性ポリエステル樹脂を溶融することと、熱可塑性ポリエステル樹脂中の剥離剤を均一に分散させることによって、溶融分散液を形成することと、該溶融分散液を含むポリマー組成物から自立膜を形成することと、縦方向約3倍‐6倍、及び横方向約3倍‐6倍に前記フィルムを延伸することによって、前記キャリアフィルムの前記外側表面に剥離剤をブルーミングさせることと、を更に含むことを特徴とする請求項12に記載の方法。
- 前記キャリアフィルムが、前記基層の一方の側のポリエステルの第1のスキン層から更になり、前記第1のスキン層が、前記キャリアフィルムの外側表面を画定し、前記スキン層において、剥離剤が均一に分散されることを特徴とする請求項12に記載の方法。
- 前記キャリアフィルムが、前記第1のスキン層とは反対側に第2のスキン層を更に備え、該第2のスキン層に剥離剤が含まれないことを特徴とする請求項16に記載の方法。
- 前記基層に剥離剤が含まれないことを特徴とする請求項16に記載の方法。
- 前記金属層が、アルミニウム、銅、銀、チタン及びこれらの混合物からなる群より選択される金属から本質的になることを特徴とする請求項12に記載の方法。
- 非ポリエステル剥離層が存在しないことを特徴とする請求項12〜19のうちのいずれか1項に記載の方法。
