Description

という通常のCIE定義を有し、ただしRは反射率であり、R0は標準反射率値である)の誤差をもたらすと想像されたい。50回の遷移後、この誤差は10L*まで蓄積する。あるいはより現実的には、ディスプレイの理論的反射率と実際の反射率との間の差に関して表される各遷移の平均誤差が±0.2L*だと仮定されたい。100回の連続的遷移後、画素はその予期された状態から2L*の平均偏差を示し、このような偏差はある種の画像では平均的観察者にとって明白である。
GC波形は、nビット画像からnビット画像に遷移する。
DU波形は、nビット(またはnビット未満の)画像をmビット画像に遷移させ、ただしm<=nである。
AU波形は、pビット画像をpビット画像に遷移させ、典型的にはn=4、m=1、およびp=1であり、またはn=4、m=2もしくは1、p=2もしくは1である。

Claims (10)
- 互いに異なる第1の駆動方式および第2の駆動方式、ならびに前記第1の駆動方式とも前記第2の駆動方式とも異なる少なくとも1つの遷移駆動方式を使用して電気光学ディスプレイを動作させる方法において、
前記第1の駆動方式を使用して前記ディスプレイを第1の画像に駆動するステップと、
前記遷移駆動方式を使用して前記ディスプレイを遷移画像とは異なる第2の画像に駆動するステップと、
前記第2の駆動方式を使用して前記ディスプレイを前記第2の画像とは異なる第3の画像に駆動するステップと、
前記遷移駆動方式を使用して前記ディスプレイを前記第3の画像とは異なる第4の画像に駆動するステップと、
前記第1の駆動方式を使用して前記ディスプレイを前記第4の画像の両方と異なる第5の画像に駆動するステップと
をこの順序で含むことを特徴とする方法。 - 請求項1に記載の方法において、前記第1の駆動方式が、前記ディスプレイを少なくとも4つのグレーレベルに駆動することができるグレースケール駆動方式であることを特徴とする方法。
- 請求項2に記載の方法において、前記第1の駆動方式が、前記ディスプレイを少なくとも8つのグレーレベルに駆動することができるグレースケール駆動方式であることを特徴とする方法。
- 請求項1に記載の方法において、前記第2の駆動方式が、前記第1の駆動方式よりも少ないグレーレベルを有し、前記ディスプレイの飽和パルスの長さよりも短い最大更新時間を有するアプリケーション更新駆動方式であることを特徴とする方法。
- 請求項1に記載の方法において、前記第1の画像から前記第2の画像への遷移に第1の遷移駆動方式を使用し、前記第3の画像から前記第4の画像への遷移に、前記第1の遷移駆動方式とは異なる第2の遷移駆動方式を使用することを特徴とする方法。
- 請求項1に記載の方法において、前記電気光学ディスプレイが、回転二色部材またはエレクトロクロミック材料を含むことを特徴とする方法。
- 請求項1に記載の方法において、前記電気光学ディスプレイが、流体中に配置され、電場の影響下で前記流体中を移動することができる複数の荷電粒子を含む電気泳動材料を含むことを特徴とする方法。
- 請求項7に記載の方法において、前記荷電粒子および前記流体が、複数のカプセルまたはマイクロセルの中に閉じ込められることを特徴とする方法。
- 請求項7に記載の方法において、前記荷電粒子および前記流体が、ポリマー材料を含む連続相によって取り囲まれる複数の離散液滴として存在することを特徴とする方法。
- 前記流体が気体である、請求項7に記載の方法。
