ピクセルを初期グレーレベルから最終グレーレベルへ変化させるために効果的な波形を各ピクセルへ適用することで、ディスプレイ上へ第二のイメージを表示するためにディスプレイを再描画から構成され、
ディスプレイの再描画が少なくとも50Hzの速度でディスプレイをスキャンすることで生じることを特徴とする。
Claims (11)
- 各々が少なくとも3つのグレーレベルにて表示できる複数のピクセルを有する電子光学式ディスプレイを駆動する方法であって、該電子光学式ディスプレイは、該電子光学式ディスプレイが2つ以上の安定状態を有するように双安定であり、
該ディスプレイ上に第1のイメージを表示することと、
該ピクセルを初期グレーレベルから最終グレーレベルに変化させるのに有効なそれぞれの波形を各ピクセルに適用することによって、該ディスプレイ上に第2のイメージを表示するために該ディスプレイを再描画することと
を包含し、
該方法は、
非ゼロ遷移を起こす全ピクセルに対して、該ピクセルに適用される波形が、複数の期間を有するとともに、実質的に同時に終了する非ゼロ電圧の最後の期間を有することと、
ゼロ遷移を起こす少なくとも1つのピクセルに対して、該少なくとも1つのピクセルに適用される波形が、少なくとも1つの期間に非ゼロ電圧が印加される複数の期間を有するとともに、非ゼロ遷移を起こす該ピクセルに印加される非ゼロ電圧の最後の期間と実質的に同時に終了する非ゼロ電圧の最後の期間を有することと
を特徴とする、方法。 - 前記複数のピクセルに適用される波形が、同一の持続期間の非ゼロ電圧の最後の期間を有する、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記複数のピクセルに適用される波形が複数のパルスを含み、パルス間の遷移が、各遷移に対してそれぞれ同一のスキャンフレーム周期内に発生する、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記電子光学式ディスプレイが、エレクトロクロミックもしくは回転二色部電子光学式メディア、カプセル化電子泳動式メディア、またはマイクロセル電子泳動式メディアを備える、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記電子光学式ディスプレイが、その対向する面に第1の電極と第2の電極とを有する電子光学材料の層を備え、該第1の電極と該第2の電極との間隔が、該ディスプレイの隣接ピクセル間の間隔の少なくとも2倍である、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記ディスプレイを再描画することが、少なくとも50Hzの頻度で該ディスプレイをスキャンすることによって達成される、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記ディスプレイを再描画することが、−Vと、0と、+Vとのうちの任意の1つ以上の電圧を各ピクセルに印加することによって達成され、Vは任意の電圧である、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記ディスプレイを再描画することが、一ピクセルが受ける一連の遷移に対して、印加電圧の時間による積分が所定の最大値までに制限されるように構成されている、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記ディスプレイを再描画することが、遷移中に一ピクセルに印加される電圧または電流の積分が該遷移の初期グレーレベルと最終グレーレベルとにのみ依存するように達成される、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 少なくとも1つの波形が、交互両極性の特定の電圧レベルの一連のパルスを非ゼロ電圧の最後の期間として有する、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記交互両極性のパルスの間に印加される前記特定の電圧レベルが、該波形の間に使用される最大電圧に等しい、および/または、該交互両極性のパルスの各々の持続期間が、一方の極の光学状態から他方の極の光学状態にピクセルを駆動するために必要なパルスの持続期間の10分の1より大きくない、請求項10に記載の方法。
