Abstract
Description
磁化可能媒体を有する磁気ディスクはほとんどのコンピュータシステムにおいてデータ記憶のために用いられている。ドメイン理論により、磁気材は、ドメインと呼ばれるいくつかの極微小領域からなる。各ドメインは、平行な原子モーメントを含み、飽和状態に達するまで磁化されるが、異なるドメインの磁化方向は必ずしも平行ではない。磁場がかけられていない場合、隣接するドメインは容易磁化方向と呼ばれるいくつかの方向で任意に配向され、これは結晶のジオメトリに依存する。このようなさまざまな方向の磁化によってもたらされる効果は、磁化されていない例などの場合のように、ゼロであり得る。磁場がかけられると、与えられた磁場方向に対してほとんど平行であるドメインは、他のドメインを犠牲にして成長する。これはドメインの境界変位またはドメイン成長と呼ばれる。磁場をさらに増加させると、より多くのドメインが回転し、かけられた磁場に対して平行に配列される。材料が飽和磁化点に達すると、磁場の強度を上げてもドメイン成長はそれ以上起こらない。
本発明の一実施形態は、低結合型垂直磁気記録媒体に関し、磁気記憶層および少なくとも1つの低飽和磁化層を含み、磁気記憶層は約400から900emu/cm3の飽和磁化を有し、少なくとも1つの低飽和磁化層の飽和磁化は、磁気記憶層の飽和磁化よりも低い。
明細書およびクレームで用いられるように、a、an、およびtheの単数形は、そうではないと明確に示されない限り、複数形をも含む。
ここに記載されるすべてのサンプルは、炭素膜以外は、DCマグネトロンスパッタリングで製造された。反応性スパッタリングにより交換結合の減少を立証する例示的データがここに示される。
Claims (21)
- 低結合型垂直磁気記録媒体であって、
磁気記憶層と、
少なくとも1つの低飽和磁化層とを備え、
前記磁気記憶層は約400から900emu/cm3の飽和磁化を有し、前記少なくとも1つの低飽和磁化層の飽和磁化は前記磁気記憶層の飽和磁化よりも低い、低結合型垂直磁気記録媒体。 - 基板と、
少なくとも1つの軟下地層と、
少なくとも1つの非磁性中間層と、
少なくとも1つの記憶層と、
炭素保護オーバーコートとをさらに備える、請求項1に記載の低結合型垂直磁気記録媒体。 - Cr、Ni、Ta、Tiおよびその合金を含む材料の群から選択された接着層をさらに備える、請求項2に記載の低結合型垂直磁気記録媒体。
- 前記少なくとも1つの軟下地層は、FeおよびCoの少なくとも一方と、Ni、B、P、Si、C、Zr、Nb、Hf、Ta、Al、Si、Cu、AgおよびAuから選択された1つ以上の元素とを含む、請求項2に記載の低結合型垂直磁気記録媒体。
- 少なくとも1つのアモルファス層をさらに備え、前記少なくとも1つのアモルファス層は、Ta、Ti、Ni、Cr、Zr、NbおよびPを含む元素および合金を含む、またはFeと、Co、B、P、Si、C、Zr、Nb、Hf、Ta、Al、Cu、AgおよびAuからなる群から選択された1つ以上の元素とを含む非結晶質の強磁性材を含む、請求項2に記載の低結合型垂直磁気記録媒体。
- 前記少なくとも1つの非磁性中間層は、Cu、Ag、Au、Ir、Ni、Pt、Pdおよびその合金からなる群から選択されたfcc層を含む、請求項2に記載の低結合型垂直磁気記録媒体。
- 前記少なくとも1つの非磁性中間層は、Co、Ru、Re、Hf、Ti、Zrおよびその合金からなる群から選択されたhcp層、またはCoCrと、Ta、B、Pt、Nb、RuおよびZrからなる群から選択された1つ以上の元素とからなるhcp層を含む、請求項2に記載の低結合型垂直磁気記録媒体。
- 前記少なくとも1つの記憶層は、Coと、Pt、Cr、Ta、B、Cu、W、Mo、Ru、Ni、Nb、ZrおよびHfからなる群から選択された1以上の元素とからなる群から選択された磁気層を含む、請求項2に記載の低結合型垂直磁気記録媒体。
- 前記少なくとも1つの記憶層は、Si、Ti、Zr、Al、Cr、Co、Nb、MgおよびZnの酸化物からなる群から選択された1つ以上の酸化物を含む、請求項2に記載の低結合型垂直磁気記録媒体。
- 前記少なくとも1つの低飽和磁化層は、Fe、CoまたはNiの少なくとも1つと、Cr、Pt、Ta、B、Ru、Cu、Ag、Au、W、Mo、Nb、Zr、Hf、Ti、ZnおよびReからなる群から選択された1つ以上の元素とを含む、請求項2に記載の低結合型垂直磁気記録媒体。
- 前記低飽和磁化層は、前記少なくとも1つの非磁性中間層と前記少なくとも1つの記憶層との間に位置付けられる、請求項2に記載の低結合型垂直磁気記録媒体。
- 前記低飽和磁化層は、前記少なくとも1つの記憶層と炭素保護オーバーコートとの間に位置付けられる、請求項2に記載の低結合型垂直磁気記録媒体。
- 前記少なくとも1つの非磁性中間層と前記少なくとも1つの低飽和磁化層との間に位置付けられる第1の記憶層、および前記少なくとも低飽和磁化層と前記炭素保護オーバーコートとの間に位置付けられる第2の記憶層を備える、請求項2に記載の低結合型垂直磁気記録媒体。
- 前記少なくとも1つの非磁性中間層と前記少なくとも1つの記憶層との間に位置付けられる第1の低飽和磁化層、および少なくとも前記記憶層と前記炭素保護オーバーコートとの間に位置付けられる第2の低飽和磁化層を備える、請求項2に記載の低結合型垂直磁気記録媒体。
- 前記低飽和磁化層は300emu/cm3以下の磁化を有する、請求項2に記載の低結合型垂直磁気記録媒体。
- 前記低飽和磁化層は50emu/cm3以下の磁化を有する、請求項2に記載の低結合型垂直磁気記録媒体。
- 低結合型垂直磁気記録媒体を製造する方法であって、
軟下地層を形成するステップと、
非磁性中間層を形成するステップと、
磁気記憶層を形成するステップと、
低飽和磁化層を形成するステップとを備え、前記磁気記憶層は約400から900emu/cm3の間の飽和磁化を有し、前記低飽和磁化層の飽和磁化は前記磁気記憶層の飽和磁化よりも低い、方法。 - 前記軟下地層上にアモルファス層を形成するステップをさらに備える、請求項17に記載の方法。
- 第2の低飽和磁化層を形成するステップをさらに備える、請求項17に記載の方法。
- 方法であって、約400から900emu/cm3の間の飽和磁化を有する磁気記憶層と、前記磁気記憶層よりも低い飽和磁化を有する少なくとも1つの低飽和磁化層とを有する記憶媒体を得ることを備える、方法。
