Abstract
Description
本願は、Monetti他による2005年11月17日に出願された、「Three Dimensional Complex Coil」という名称の米国仮特許出願第60/738,087号、およびMonetti他による2006年8月17日に出願された、「Three Dimensional Complex Coil」という名称の米国仮特許出願第60/822,656号からの優先権を主張し、上記出願はそれらの全体が本明細書において参考により援用される。
先行技術は、時に「コンプレックス」コイルと呼ばれる三次元(3−D)形状のコイルを用いる体の動脈瘤を処置するための多くの方法およびデバイスを企図する。例えば、参考により援用される特許文献1(Horton)は中空の構造を示す。参考により援用される特許文献2(Phelps)および特許文献3(Ritchart)は他の3−Dコイルの設計を示す。参考により援用される特許文献4(Teoh)は、一連の重なりのないループを教示する。参考により援用される特許文献5(Wallace)はコンプレックスコイルを示す。参考により援用される特許文献6(Ferrera)は、J形状の近位区画がデバイスのコンプレックス部分から離れるように延びることを除いて、TeohおよびWallaceのデバイスと類似しているデバイスを示す。
しかしながら、動脈瘤のより良い処置を提供するための、より発展し、改善されたコンプレックスコイルを提供するという継続した必要性がある。
それゆえ本発明の目的は、先行技術に関して動脈瘤を処置するための改善されたデバイスおよび方法を提供することである。
ここで図面を参照し、まず図1〜図6を参照して、トロイド形状の固定具12を用いて形作られるコイルまたはコンプレックスコイル10が記載される。コイル10は、図1において固定具12の周りに4回巻きつけられており、その結果4つのループ14が形成され、各ループは隣のループから約90度離れて配置される。固定具12の周りにコイル10を巻きつけることで、血管または動脈瘤などの体腔に配置されたときに、コイル10に複雑な形状を形成させる。デバイスは細長いコイルワイヤを形成するためにらせん状に巻かれた1本のワイヤから構成され得る。あるいは、ワイヤは当該分野で公知の方法によって編み組みされるか、または編まれて、二次形状を形成し得る。このワイヤは、好ましくは形状記憶金属(例えば、Nitinol)であり得るが、白金、タンタル、タングステン、ステンレス鋼または他の生体適合性材料であり得る。他の材料(例えば、DacronもしくはNylon繊維、ポリ乳酸もしくはポリグリコール酸などの生物分解性ポリマーおよび膨張可能もしくは膨張不可能なヒドロゲル材料)は、コイルまたは編み組みされた構造の内側または外側に配置され、デバイスの性能を改良し得る。
ここで図7〜図12を参照すると、固定具42を用いるコンプレックスコイル40の製造が示され、該取付け具42は互いに垂直な角度で配置された複数のピン44を含む。図1〜図6に示される実施形態と同様に、図7〜図12における固定具42を用いて形成されるコンプレックスコイル40の実施形態は、コイル状のワイヤを形成するようにらせん状に巻かれている1本のワイヤから作製され得る。あるいは、該ワイヤは当該分野で公知の方法によって編み組みされたり、編み込まれたりされて、二次形状を形成し得る。ワイヤは白金、タンタル、タングステン、ステンレス鋼、Nitinolまたは他の生体適合性材料であり得る。他の材料(例えば、DacronもしくはNylon繊維、ポリ乳酸もしくはポリグリコール酸などの生物分解性ポリマーおよび膨張可能もしくは膨張不可能なヒドロゲル材料)は、コンプレックスコイルまたは編み組みされた構造の内側または外側に配置され、デバイスの性能を改良し得る。例示のみとして、一つの実施形態は、脳動脈瘤などの病気を処置するために用いられ得、約0.125mmから約0.625mmの範囲の直径と、約5mmから約1000mmの長さを有する白金/タングステン合金コンプレックスコイル10(92%Pt、8%W、Sigmund Cohn Mount Vernon,NYから入手可能)を用いる。
Claims (32)
- 第一の平面において第一の図8のパターンを形成するように整列された第一のループおよび第二のループと、
第二の平面において第二の図8のパターンを形成するように整列された第三のループおよび第四のループと
を備え、該第一の平面と該第二の平面とは互いに対し実質的に平行である、コンプレックスコイル。 - 前記第一のループ、前記第二のループ、前記第三のループおよび前記第四のループのどのループも共通の長手方向軸を共有しない、請求項1に記載のコンプレックスコイル。
- 前記第一の図8のパターンは、前記第一の平面内で、前記第二の図8のパターンに関して回転する、請求項1に記載のコンプレックスコイル。
- 前記第一の図8のパターンは、前記第一の平面内で、前記第二の図8のパターンに関して約90度回転する、請求項3に記載のコンプレックスコイル。
- 前記第一のループおよび前記第三のループは、共通の長手方向軸を有する、請求項1に記載のコンプレックスコイル。
- 前記第二のループおよび前記第四のループは、共通の長手方向軸を有する、請求項1に記載のコンプレックスコイル。
- 第五のループおよび第六のループをさらに備え、該第五のループおよび該第六のループは、前記第一のループ、前記第二のループ、前記第三のループおよび前記第四のループの長手方向軸に関して約90度に角度をつけられた長手方向軸を有する、請求項1に記載のコンプレックスコイル。

- 三次元コンプレックスコイルを形成するための固定具であって、
本体と、
該本体から延び、x軸の方向に延びる長手方向軸を有する第一のピンと、
該本体から延び、該x軸の方向に延びる長手方向軸を有する第二のピンと、
該本体から延び、y軸の方向に延びる長手方向軸を有する第三のピンと、
該本体から延び、該y軸の方向に延びる長手方向軸を有する第四のピンと、
該本体から延び、z軸の方向に延びる長手方向軸を有する第五のピンと、
該本体から延び、該z軸の方向に延びる長手方向軸を有する第六のピンと
を備えており、
該x軸、y軸およびz軸は、全て互いに対し垂直であり、
該第三のピンおよび該第四のピンの該長手方向軸は第一の平面を規定し、
該第五のピンおよび該第六のピンの該長手方向軸は第二の平面を規定し、
