Abstract
Description
本発明は、交互セパレータ機構を備えた電気化学的装置に関する。より詳しくは、本発明は、セパレータ部材を規則的な間隔で交互に積み重ねた構造により、安定性が改良された電気化学的装置であって、該セパレータ部材が、単位電池のセパレータと、単位電池間に配置された分離フィルムとの間の熱収縮率の差により異なった熱的挙動を示す、電気化学的装置に関する。
近年、エネルギー貯蔵技術に大きな関心が向けられるにつれて、そのような技術を実行できるバッテリーを研究及び開発する努力と試みが鋭意なされている。これに関して、電気化学的装置の分野が非常に注目されており、特に、再充電可能な二次バッテリーの開発に多くの関心が寄せられている。
従って、本発明は、上記の問題および他の未解決の技術的問題を解決するためになされたものである。
本発明の一態様で、上記の、及び他の目的は、フルセルまたはバイセルを多数積み重ねた単位電池、及び該単位電池間に挿入され、該単位電池を包む分離フィルムを備えてなる、積み重ねた、折りたたまれた電気化学的装置であって、該単位電池のセパレータが、低い熱収縮率を有する多孔質材料から形成され、該分離フィルムが、比較的高い熱収縮率を有する多孔質材料から形成される、電気化学的装置を提供することにより、達成することができる。
ここで、下記の例を参照しながら、本発明をより詳細に説明する。これらの例は、本発明を説明するためにのみ記載するのであり、本発明の範囲及び精神を制限するものではない。
セラミック材料を不織支持材料上に塗布することにより、単位電池中に挿入されるセパレータを製造した。セパレータは、150℃まで熱収縮を起こさない。
図1に示す積み重ねた、折りたたんだ電気化学的装置を、分離フィルムの材料と同じ材料から製造されたセパレータを使用した以外は、例1と同じ様式で製造した。
電解質を例1及び比較例1の電気化学的装置中に注入し、続いて密封することにより、リチウムイオン二次バッテリーを製造した。
上記の説明から明らかなように、本発明の電気化学的装置は、内部または外部ファクターによりバッテリーの温度が突然上昇しても、セパレータの熱収縮による短絡を引き起こさずに、分離フィルムの熱的挙動による作動停止を安定して誘発することにより、熱的安定性を確保することができる。
Claims (14)
- 積み重ねた、折りたたまれた電気化学的装置であって、
フルセルまたはバイセルを多数積み重ねた単位電池と、及び
前記単位電池間に挿入され、前記単位電池を包む分離フィルムとを備えてなり、
前記単位電池のセパレータが、低い熱収縮率を有する多孔質材料から形成されてなり、かつ、
前記分離フィルムが、比較的高い熱収縮率を有する多孔質材料から形成されてなる、電気化学的装置。 - 前記装置が、フルセルまたはバイセルを多数積み重ねた単位電池と、及び前記単位電池間に挿入された多孔質分離フィルムとを包含する構造を有してなり、
前記多孔質分離フィルムが、前記単位電池を包むように決められた単位長さを有し、かつ、前記単位長さ毎に内側に向かって折りたたまれて、前記単位電池のそれぞれを、中央の前記単位電池から出発して最も外側の前記単位電池まで、連続的に包んでなる、請求項1に記載の電気化学的装置。 - 前記装置が、フルセルまたはバイセルを多数積み重ねた単位電池と、及び前記単位電池間に挿入された多孔質分離フィルムを包含する構造を有しなり、
前記多孔質分離フィルムが、前記単位電池を包むように決められた単位長さを有し、かつ、前記単位長さ毎に外側に向かって折りたたまれて、前記単位電池のそれぞれを、最初の位置にある前記単位電池から出発して最後の位置にある前記単位電池まで、連続的にZ形状に折りたたみ、残りの前記分離フィルムが、前記積み重ねた単位電池の外側部分を包んでなる、請求項1に記載の電気化学的装置。 - 前記セパレータが、少なくとも150℃まで熱収縮を示さないものである、請求項1に記載の電気化学的装置。
- 前記セパレータが、セラミック材料または融点が200℃を超えるエンジニアリングプラスチックから形成されてなる、請求項1に記載の電気化学的装置。
- 前記セラミック材料が、Pb(Zr、Ti)O3、Pb1−xLaxZr1−yTiyO3(式中、x及びyは、独立して0〜1の範囲内である)、PB(Mg3Nb2/3)O3−PbTiO3、BaTiO3、HfO2、SrTiO3、TiO2、SiO2、Al2O3、ZrO2、SnO2、CeO2、MgO、CaO、Y2O3、およびそれらのいずれかの組合せからなる群から選択されてなる、請求項5に記載の電気化学的装置。
- 前記エンジニアリングプラスチックが、ポリエステル、ポリスルホン、ポリイミド、ポリアミド、ポリアセタール、およびそれらのいずれかの組合せからなる群から選択されてなる、請求項5に記載の装置。
- 前記分離フィルムが、100〜150℃の温度で、前記分離フィルムの熱的挙動により作動停止機能を発揮するものである、請求項1に記載の電気化学的装置。
- 前記分離フィルムが、温度120〜140℃で、前記分離フィルムの熱的挙動により作動停止機能を発揮する、請求項8に記載の電気化学的装置。
- 前記分離フィルムが、ポリオレフィン樹脂、またはポリオレフィン樹脂の共重合体もしくはブレンドから形成される、請求項1に記載の電気化学的装置。
- 前記分離フィルムが、熱収縮が前記折りたたみ方向でのみ起こるように、前記折りたたみ方向に単軸延伸された多孔質材料から形成される、請求項1に記載の電気化学的装置。
- 前記装置がリチウム二次バッテリーである、請求項1に記載の電気化学的装置。
- 一個以上の、請求項1に記載の電気化学的装置を備えてなる、電気化学的装置パック。
- 前記電気化学的装置が直列または並列方式で接続されてなる、請求項13に記載の電気化学的装置パック。
