Abstract
Description
全ての数値は本明細書においては、明記してあるか否かにかかわらず、「約」なる語が付されているものとする。「約」は、当業者が記載されている数値と等価(すなわち、同一の機能、または同一の結果)であると考えられる数値の範囲を意味する。多くの事例において、「約」は直近の重要な数字に概数化した数字である。
以下の説明は図面を参照しつつ読まれるべきである。類似の参照番号は複数の図面を通して類似の要素を示す。詳細な説明および図面は、本発明の例示的な実施態様を示している。

代えて、一実施態様において、異なる材料からなるコアワイヤの異なる部分を連結するための1つ以上の機械的なコネクタまたはコネクタアセンブリを備える。コネクタはガイドワイヤの部分間を連結するのに適切な任意の構造を有する。適切な構造の一例には、基端部16および先端部18の端部を受承し、その後連結することに適するサイズである内径を有するハイポチューブまたは巻回したワイヤなどの構造がある。異なるシャフト部分を相互に連結するために用いられ得る適切な技術および構造の他の例は米国特許出願第09/972,276明細書である。

Claims (26)
- 長手方向の軸線を有するとともに、基端部、先端部、および基端部と先端部との間に中間部を有する長尺状シャフトを備える医療装置であって、
中間部は先端部および基端部よりも柔軟である装置。 - 基端部、中間部、および先端部を有する長尺状コアワイヤと、
中間部は先端部よりも柔軟であることと、
コアワイヤの少なくとも一部の上方に、シース、カバー、コイル、または被覆物を備える医療装置。 - 先端部は基端部よりも柔軟である請求項1または2に記載の医療装置。
- 基端部はステンレススチールよりなる請求項1乃至3のいずれかに記載の医療装置。
- 先端部は、超弾性ニッケル−チタン合金または線形弾性ニッケル−チタン合金などのニッケル−チタン合金からなる請求項1乃至4のいずれかに記載の医療装置。
- 中間部は、基端部および先端部の材料と比較して、大きな柔軟性を有する材料により製造されている請求項1乃至5のいずれかに記載の医療装置。
- 中間部は、超弾性ニッケル−チタン合金または線形弾性ニッケル−チタン合金などのニッケル−チタン合金からなる請求項1乃至6のいずれかに記載の医療装置。
- 中間部はポリマーからなる請求項1乃至7のいずれかに記載の医療装置。
- 中間部は、中間部に対して基端部および先端部に比較して大きな柔軟性を付与する構造を備える請求項1乃至8のいずれかに記載の医療装置。
- 中間部は中間部に形成された1つ以上のノッチ、切欠、またはスロットを備え、中間部に対して基端部および先端部に比較して大きな柔軟性を付与し、さらに中間部は外面を有し、1つ以上のノッチ、切欠、またはスロットが中間部の外面に形成されている請求項1乃至9のいずれかに記載の医療装置。
- 中間部は基端部と先端部との間に配置されたコイル部材を備え、コイル部材は、中間部に対して基端部および先端部に比較して大きな柔軟性を付与する請求項1乃至10のいずれかに記載の医療装置。
- 基端部は第1の外径を備え、先端部は第2の外径を備え、中間部は第3の外径を備え、第3の外径は第1の外径より小さい請求項1乃至11のいずれかに記載の医療装置。
- 第3の外径は第2の外径より小さい請求項12に記載の医療装置。
- 第2の外径は第1の外径より小さい請求項12または13に記載の医療装置。
- 先端部は先端を備え、中間部は先端の基端側に配置される請求項1乃至14のいずれかに記載の医療装置。
- 長尺状シャフトの少なくとも一部の上方に配置された、シース、カバー、コイルまたは被覆物をさらに備える請求項1および3乃至15のいずれかに記載の医療装置。

- 医療装置を製造する方法であって、
長手方向の軸線を有するとともに、基端部、先端部、および基端部と先端部との間に配置された中間部を有する長尺状シャフトを提供する提供工程と、
中間部が先端部および基端部よりも柔軟であるように、シャフトを構成する構成工程とを備える方法。 - 医療装置に対して、請求項1乃至24のいずれかに記載の材料、構造、または機能を付与する付与工程をさらに備える請求項25に記載の方法。
