発泡体緩衝材は、普通、カーペットまたはカーペットタイル製品の裏張り基材として使われる。緩衝機能のある基材を裏張りされたカーペットおよびカーペットタイルは、これらの基材を張られていない製品よりも長持ちさせることができる。特に、緩衝機能のある基材を有するカーペットまたはカーペットタイル製品に取り付けられたカーペット表面の糸に、人の歩行、物体の回転または表面に重い物を置くことにより応力が加えられる場合は、荷重はカーペット表面から緩衝機能のある基材に移る。従って、緩衝機能のある基材が荷重の大部分を支え、カーペット表面は緩衝裏張り基材を有しない製品のように迅速に磨耗しない。それ故に、その力を吸収するように作られた緩衝裏張り基材システムは、カーペットまたはカーペットタイルの外観を保持する期間を大幅に延長し、従ってこれらの製品の使用可能な寿命を延長し、消費者の全体的コストを下げる。さらに、緩衝材を裏張りしたカーペットまたはカーペットタイル製品は、人が歩行したり、立つことにより加えられた荷重を吸収することができるので、人の疲労を低減することができる。このため、緩衝材を裏張りしたカーペットまたはカーペットタイル製品を、例えば、オフィス、ショッピングセンター、空港などの人が長時間歩いたり立ったりする場所において特に有利なものにする。

- 前記接着剤に隣接した前記発泡体緩衝裏張り基材の表面に組み込まれたスクリムを有する請求項9に記載のカーペットまたはカーペットタイル。
- 発泡体緩衝裏張り基材であって、
a)i)1つ以上の均一に分岐したエチレンポリマー(HBEP)またはほぼ線状のエチレンポリマー(SLEP)、および
ii)1つ以上の弾力性物質、
を含む発泡可能なポリマー組成物を含み、
前記発泡体緩衝裏張り基材は0.075インチを超えた厚さを有し、前記発泡体緩衝裏張り基材がカーペットまたはカーペットタイルで使用するのに適している発泡体緩衝裏張り基材。 - 前記弾力性物質が、エチレン−プロピレン−ジエンモノマ−ゴム(EPDM)、エチレン−プロピレンモノマ−ゴム(EPM)、アクリロニトリル−ブタジエン(NBR)、スチレン−ブタジエン(SBR)、カルボキシル化NBR、カルボキシル化SBR、スチレンブロックコポリマー、熱可塑性エラストマーおよびフレキシブル超低密度ポリエチレン樹脂の1つ以上を含む請求項21に記載の発泡体緩衝裏張り基材。
- 前記弾力性物質が、前記発泡可能なポリマー組成物の約5〜約40重量%の範囲で前記ポリマー組成物中に存在する請求項22の発泡体緩衝裏張り基材。
- 前記発泡体緩衝裏張り基材が実質的に架橋していない請求項21に記載の発泡体緩衝裏張り基材。
- SLEPを含む請求項21に記載の発泡体緩衝裏張り基材。
- 約0.100〜約0.225インチの範囲の厚さを有する請求項21に記載の発泡体緩衝裏張り基材。
- 前記発泡可能なポリマー組成物がさらに接着剤を含み、前記接着剤が官能化ポリマーまたはコポリマーを含む請求項21に記載の発泡体緩衝裏張り基材。
- 前記発泡可能なポリマー組成物が、該発泡可能なポリマー組成物の総重量に対して、約0より多く〜約10%の範囲の前記官能化ポリマーまたはコポリマーを含む請求項27に記載の発泡体緩衝裏張り基材。
- 前記官能化ポリマーまたはコポリマー物質が、無水マレイン酸グラフトエチレンポリマーを含む請求項27に記載の発泡体緩衝裏張り基材。
- 前記発泡可能なポリマー組成物がさらにフィラーを含む請求項21に記載の発泡体緩衝裏張り基材。
- 表側および裏側を有する下塗りされた生地を含むカーペットまたはカーペットタイルであって、前記下塗りされた生地が、その裏側に接着剤を用いて取り付けられた請求項21の前記発泡体緩衝裏張り基材を有するカーペットまたはカーペットタイル。
- 前記発泡体緩衝裏張り基材が接着剤を用いて前記カーペットまたはカーペットタイル製品の裏側に取り付けられ、前記接着剤が前記カーペットまたはカーペットタイル構造の裏側および前記発泡体緩衝裏張り基材のいずれかまたは両方に別々に塗布されている請求項31のカーペットまたはカーペットタイル。
- 前記発泡体緩衝裏張り基材が、前記ポリマー組成物に混ぜ込まれている接着剤を用いて前記下塗りされた生地の裏側に取り付けられている請求項31のカーペットまたはカーペットタイル。
- 約1〜約20%の範囲の圧縮永久ひずみを有し、前記%は、3インチ×3インチの試料が室温で22時間25%まで圧縮された後、前記裏張り基材の回復率%を指す請求項31のカーペットまたはカーペットタイル。
- ASTM3575サフィックスBにより測定された、約8〜約20%の範囲の圧縮永久ひずみを有する請求項31のカーペットまたはカーペットタイル。
- 約5〜約25psiの圧縮抵抗を有し、前記psiは、室温で、3インチ×3インチの裏張り基材の試料を厚さ方向に1分間圧縮し、厚さが回復する力を測定して得られる請求項31に記載のカーペットまたはカーペットタイル。
- ASTM3575サフィックスDにより測定された約18〜約32psiの圧縮抵抗を有する請求項31に記載のカーペットまたはカーペットタイル。
- 前記発泡体緩衝裏張り基材が外側表面を有し、前記外側表面が該表面に取り付けられたエチレンポリマー・キャップコートを有する請求項31に記載のカーペットまたはカーペットタイル。
- 前記キャップコートが約5〜約25oz/yd2の範囲で存在する請求項38に記載のカーペットまたはカーペットタイル。
- 前記発泡体緩衝裏張り基材が外側表面を有し、前記外側表面が該表面に取り付けられた織物材または不織布材を有する請求項31に記載のカーペットまたはカーペットタイル。
- ASTM D3936により測定した時に、約2.5lbs/inより大きい剥離強度を有する請求項31に記載のカーペットまたはカーペットタイル。
- 前記接着剤に隣接した前記発泡体緩衝裏張り基材の表面に組み込まれたスクリムを有する請求項31に記載のカーペットまたはカーペットタイル。
- カーペットまたはカーペットタイルにおいて使用するのに適した発泡体緩衝裏張り基材を製造する方法であって、前記方法が
a)i)1つ以上の均一に分岐したエチレンポリマー(HBEP)またはほぼ線状のエチレンポリマー(SLEP)、および
ii)発泡剤、
を含むポリマー組成物を提供する工程、
b)前記発泡剤の活性化後発泡体緩衝裏張り基材を得るのに適した表面に前記ポリマー組成物を塗布する工程、
c)前記発泡剤を活性化し、それによりカーペットまたはカーペットタイルで使用するのに適している発泡体緩衝裏張り基材を提供する工程を包含し、該発泡体緩衝裏張り基材が約0.075インチを超えた厚さを有する発泡体緩衝裏張り基材を製造する、方法。 - 前記方法は、さらに、下塗りされた生地を提供する工程を包含し、前記表面は下塗りされた生地であり、前記発泡剤は前記生地に前記ポリマー組成物を塗布した後活性化され、それによりカーペット構造に密着した発泡体緩衝裏張り基材を有するカーペット構造を提供する請求項43に記載の方法。
- カーペット構造に密着した発泡体緩衝裏張り基材を有するカーペット構造が、ASTM D3936により測定した時に、約2.5lbs/inより大きい剥離強度を有する請求項44に記載の方法。
- 前記方法は、さらに、下塗りされた生地を提供する工程を包含し、前記発泡体緩衝裏張り基材が、前記発泡剤の活性化後、接着剤を用いて前記下塗りされた生地に張り合わせられる請求項43に記載の方法。
- 前記ポリマー組成物がフィラーを含む請求項43に記載の方法。
- 前記ポリマー組成物が弾力性物質を含む請求項43に記載の方法。
- 前記弾力性物質が、エチレン−プロピレン−ジエンモノマ−ゴム(EPDM)、エチレン−プロピレンモノマ−ゴム(EPM)、アクリロニトリル−ブタジエン(NBR)、スチレン−ブタジエン(SBR)、カルボキシル化NBR、カルボキシル化SBR、スチレンブロックコポリマー、熱可塑性エラストマーおよびフレキシブル超低密度ポリエチレン樹脂の1つ以上を含む請求項48に記載の方法。
- 前記弾力性物質が、前記発泡可能なポリマー組成物の約5〜約40重量%の範囲で前記ポリマー組成物中に存在する請求項49の発泡体緩衝裏張り基材。
- 前記発泡体緩衝材で裏張りしたカーペット構造が、ASTM D3936により測定した時に、約2.5lbs/inより大きい剥離強度を有する請求項46に記載の方法。
- 前記発泡剤を活性化する前に前記発泡可能なポリマー組成物上にスクリムを導入することにより、発泡体緩衝裏張り基材の側にスクリムを有する前記基材を提供することをさらに含む請求項43に記載の方法。
