Abstract
Description
性の低下、圧力低下の増大のような、双方とも良好な製品特性に悪影響を与える新たな欠点を生じさせている。
ここで、tは内壁の厚さ、Lはセルの直径、Rは隅肉の半径の絶対値である。計算では、tを0.07mmに固定し、Lは0.84mmに固定した。Rは0mm(隅肉なし)から0.15mmの間で変えた。僅かな隅肉であっても、強度を劇的に向上させることが明らかである。例えば、半径0.05mmの隅肉に対して、強度の向上度合(すなわちMIF%の向上度合)は15%であり、半径0.127mmの隅肉に対して、強度の向上度合は50%である。

Claims (9)
- 交差する内壁によって画成され、かつハニカム体の両端でおよび両端間に水平と垂直に配置された複数の平行なセルと、該複数のセルを取り囲み、かつ前記内壁と相互接続された外周壁とを備えたハニカムにおいて、
前記複数のセルが、前記外周壁の近傍にある一部のセルを含む第1領域と、残りのセルを含む第2領域とに分類され、
前記第1領域内のセルの壁の厚さが、前記外周壁に向かって延びる軸に沿って連続的に増大し、
少なくとも前記第1領域のセルの内壁間の交差部には隅肉が形成され、該隅肉は半径を有し、
該隅肉の半径が、前記外周壁に向かって延びる軸に沿って連続的に増大する、
ことを特徴とするハニカム。 - 前記外周壁近傍の前記第1セル領域が、少なくとも4列から20列のセルを含むことを特徴とする請求項1記載のハニカム。
- 前記第2領域におけるセルの壁の厚さが0.15mm以下であることを特徴とする請求項1記載のハニカム。
- 前記第2領域におけるセルの壁の厚さが0.10mm以下であることを特徴とする請求項1記載のハニカム。
- 前記第1領域におけるセルの壁が、前記第2領域におけるセルの壁の1.01〜4倍の厚さを有することを特徴とする請求項3記載のハニカム。
- 前記隅肉が、0.025〜0.400mmの半径を有することを特徴とする請求項1記載のハニカム。
- 前記第1領域におけるセルの隅肉が、凹形状、凸形状およびそれらの組合せからなる群から選択された形式のものであることを特徴とする請求項1記載のハニカム。
- 請求項1記載のハニカムを製造するための押出しダイであって、
入口面と、
該入口面とは反対側の排出面と、
前記入口面から前記ダイの本体内に延びる複数の供給孔と、
前記排出面から前記ダイの本体内に延びて該ダイの内部の供給孔とスロットとの交差部において前記供給孔に接続する排出スロットの交差アレイとを備えた押出しダイにおいて、
前記ダイの外周近傍の複数の排出スロットが、前記ダイの外周に向かって延びる軸に沿って連続的に増大する幅を有し、
前記ダイの外周近傍の複数のピンが、丸みを帯びた隅部を備えていることを特徴とする押出しダイ。 - 請求項8記載の押出しダイの作成方法であって、
入口面と、該該入口面とは反対側の排出面と、前記入口面から前記ダイの本体内に延びる複数の供給孔と、前記排出面から前記ダイの本体内に延びて該ダイの内部の供給孔とスロットとの交差部において前記供給孔に接続する排出スロットの交差アレイとを組み込み、該排出スロットの交差アレイがピンのアレイの側面によって形成されたダイ本体を提供する工程、
交差ウェブの網状構造によって形成された複数の開口部を備えた放電電極を提供する工程であって、前記交差ウェブが前記電極の外周に向かう軸方向に連続的に増大する幅を有し、前記交差ウェブがその交差部において丸みを帯びた隅部を備えるものである工程、
前記放電電極を前記ダイ本体の排出面上のピンのアレイと接触させる工程、
前記ダイの外周近傍の領域における複数のピンを細くする工程であって、この場合のピンを細くすることは、プランジ放電加工によって、ピンの全ての側面において対称的に行なわれ、同時にピンの隅部を丸めるものである工程、
を有してなり、
これによって、複数のピンが丸められた隅部を有し、かつ前記ダイの外周に向かって延びる軸に沿って連続的に幅が増大する排出スロットを形成するピンのアレイを備えたダイが形成されることを特徴とする押出しダイの作成方法。
