Abstract
Description
本願は、2002年5月31日に出願され、参考のため全体的にここに入れてある暫定米国特許出願Serial No.60/384,857の利点を主張するものである。
ここで用いられる「内側(inner)」、「外側(outer)」、「左」、「右」、「より上に(above)」、「より下に(below)」等のような空間又は方向的用語は、図面に示されているような本発明に関する。しかし、本発明は、種々の別な配向を取ることもでき、従ってそのような用語は限定するものとして考えるべきではないことは理解されるであろう。更に、本明細書及び特許請求の範囲の範囲で用いられている大きさ、物理的特徴、等々を表現する全ての数字は、どの場合でも用語「約」によって修正されるものとして理解すべきである。従って、反することが指示されていない限り、次の明細書及び特許請求の範囲中に記載された数値は、本発明によって得られるように求められる希望の性質に依存して変化させることができる。最低限、特許請求の範囲と同等の教義の適用を制限する試みとしではなく、各数値パラメーターは、少なくとも報告された重要な数値の個数を考慮に入れ、通常の端数を丸める方法を適用することにより与えられたものと見做すべきである。更に、ここに記載した多くの範囲は、その中に含まれるどのような小さい範囲でも全て包含されるものと理解すべきである。例えば、「1〜10」と述べた範囲は、1の最低値と10の最大値の間に入る(それらの数値をも含めて)どのような小さい範囲でも全て包含するものと考えるべきである。即ち、1以上の最低値で始まり、10以下の最大値で終わる全ての小範囲、例えば5.5〜10のような範囲が含まれる。更に、ここで用いられる用語「を覆って堆積した(deposited over)」、「を覆って適用した(applied over)」、又は「を覆って与えた(provided over)」とは、表面の上ではあるが、必ずしも表面と接触していないで堆積、適用、又は与えられていることを意味する。例えば、基体「を覆って堆積した」材料とは、堆積した材料と基体との間に位置する同じか又は異なる組成の一つ以上の他の材料が存在することを排除するものではない。更に、ここで言及する引用文献は、全てそれが全体的に組込まれているものと理解すべきである。用語「美的被覆」とは、基体の美的性質、例えば色、遮光、色相、又は可視光反射率を向上させるために与えられるが、必ずしも基体の太陽光調節性を向上させるとは限らない被覆を指す。しかし、美的被覆は、例えば、紫外線(UV)吸収率又は反射率及び/又は赤外線(IR)吸収率又は反射率のような美的以外の性質を与えることもできるであろう。美的被覆は、物品を通る可視光透過率を単に低下させることにより、幾らかの太陽光調節効果を与えることもできるであろう。次の検討で、屈折率値は、550nmの基準波長についての値である。用語「可視領域」又は「可視光」とは、380nm〜780nmの範囲の波長を有する電磁波を指す。用語「赤外領域」又は「赤外線」とは、780nmより大きく、100,000nmまでの範囲の波長を有する電磁波を指す。用語「紫外領域」又は「紫外線」とは、300nm〜380nm未満の範囲の波長を有する電磁波エネルギーを意味する。用語「光学的厚さ」とは、550nmに関連した材料の屈折率(無次元)×その物理的厚さ(Å)の積を意味する。ここでの可視(visible)視感透過率(luminous transmittance)(Lta)値(Y、x、y)は、パーキン・エルマー(Perkin−Elmer)から市販されているラムダ(Lambda)9分光光度計、又はBYK・ガードナー(Gardner)から市販されているBYK・ガードナーTCS分光光度計を用いて、380〜770nmの波長範囲に亙って2°の観察方向で(米国連邦標準に順応して)、C.I.E.(1976)標準照明「A」を用いて決定することができる値である。光反射色値、L★、a★、b★(R1か、又はR2)は、(自動車の分野で慣用的な)10°の観察方向で、照明「D65」を用いて決定された。用語「フイルム」とは、希望の又は選択された組成を有する被覆の領域を指す。「層」は、一つ以上の「フイルム」を含む。「被覆」又は「被覆積層体」とは、一つ以上の「層」から構成されている。
本発明の少なくとも一つの被覆を組込んだ被覆物品の幾つかの例を、慣用的MSVD蒸着により製造し、反射色(L★、a★、b★)及び透過率(Lta)について試験した。
ペンシルバニア州ピッツバーグのPPGインダストリーズ社から市販されている2.0mm厚の透明ガラス/200Å錫酸亜鉛/200Åチタニア/0.76mmポリビニルブチラール/2.3mmの、ペンシルバニア州ピッツバーグのPPGインダストリーズ社から市販されているソレックスガラス。この積層構造体は、72.70%のLta、及び夫々52.27、−2.35、及び−8.97の反射L★a★b★色を持っていた。
2.0mm厚の透明ガラス/240Å錫酸亜鉛/160Åチタニア/0.76mmポリビニルブチラール/2.3mmの、ペンシルバニア州ピッツバーグのPPGインダストリーズ社から市販されているビスタグレイガラス。この積層構造体は、70.55%のLta、及び夫々47.74、−2.03、及び−5.68の反射L★a★b★色を持っていた。
2.3mm厚の透明ガラス/350Åジルコニア。
2.3mm厚の透明ガラス/475Åジルコニア。
4.0mm厚の透明ガラス/200Å錫酸亜鉛/200Åチタニア/20,000Å酸化アルミニウム珪素。
本発明の教示に従って更に別の試料1〜50を作り、それらの組成及び測定された種々の光学的特性を下の表1に示す。

- 第一基体、及び

を有する被覆物品。 - 第二基体を含み、第一基体と第二基体との間に配置された美的被覆を有する、請求項1に記載の物品。
- 物品が成形物品である、請求項1に記載の物品。
- 第一基体がガラス又は重合体材料から選択されたものである、請求項1に記載の物品。
