- 【特許請求の範囲】 1.エレクトロルミネセンス素子の製造方法であって、 正の電荷担体注入材料からなる陽極を形成し、 ポリピロールおよびその誘導体、ポリチオフェンおよびその誘導体、ポリビニ ルカルバゾール(PVK)、ポリスチレン、ポリ(ビニルピリジン)、誘電体材 料、炭素、非晶質シリコン、インジウムを含有しない導電性酸化物(酸化スズ、 酸化亜鉛、酸化バナジウム、酸化モリブデン、および酸化ニッケルを含む)、お よび昇華させた有機半導体よりなる群から選択される保護材料により、陽極上に 陽極保護層を形成し、 半導体共役重合体である重合体へと前駆体を変換することによって発光層を形 成し、 負の電荷担体注入材料からなる陰極を形成する 工程からなることを特徴とするエレクトロルミネセンス素子の製造方法。 2.請求項1記載の方法において、半導体共役重合体が、前駆体重合体から 共役重合体への変換の際に酸性の副生物を放出する重合体の種類から選択される 方法。 3.請求項1または2記載の方法において、陽極が、ガラスまたはプラスチ ック材料の基体上に付着させた透明導電性層からなる方法。 4.請求項1または2記載の方法において、発光層が、ポリ(p−フェニレ ンビニレン)(PPV)の単独重合体から形成される方法。 5.請求項1または2記載の方法において、発光層が、PPVのアセテート を基材とする共重合体から形成される方法。 6.請求項1乃至5のいずれかに記載の方法において、陽極保護層が、ポリ エチレンジオキシチオフェン/ポリスチレンスルホネートから形成される方法。 7.請求項6記載の方法において、陽極保護層の分子比が、1:1.2PE DT/PSSである方法。 8.請求項6記載の方法において、陽極保護層の分子比が、1:5PEDT /PSSである方法。 9.請求項1乃至8のいずれかに記載の方法において、陽極保護層と発光層 との間に更なる層を付着させ、発光層の被覆均一性を向上させる方法。 10.請求項9記載の方法において、更なる層がポリ(ビニルピリジン)( PVP)からなる方法。 11.請求項1乃至10のいずれかに記載の方法において、陽極保護層と陰 極との間に第2の発光層を設ける方法。 12.請求項1乃至5のいずれかに記載の方法において、陽極保護層が炭素 、酸化スズ、またはシリコンから形成される場合に、これをスパッタリングまた は蒸着によって形成する方法。 13.請求項1乃至12のいずれかに記載の方法において、陽極保護層の厚 さが、10〜500Åである方法。 14.請求項1乃至13のいずれかに記載の方法において、陽極および発光 層のそれぞれの厚さが、500〜2000Åである方法。 15.請求項1乃至14のいずれかに記載の方法において、陽極がITOに より形成される方法。 16.請求項1乃至15のいずれかに記載の方法において、陰極がアルミニ ウムまたはアルミニウム合金により形成される方法。 17.エレクトロルミネセンス素子であって、 正の電荷担体注入材料により形成される陽極と、 ポリピロールおよびその誘 導体、ポリチオフェンおよびその誘導体、ポリビニルカルバゾール(PVK)、 ポリスチレン、ポリ(ビニルピリジン)、誘電体材料、炭素、非晶質シリコン、 インジウムを含有しない導電性酸化物(酸化スズ、酸化亜鉛、酸化バナジウム、 酸化モリブデン、および酸化ニッケルを含む)よりなる群から選択される保護材 料により陽極上に形成される陽極保護層と、 半導体共役重合体により形成される発光層と、 負の電荷担体注入材料により形成される陰極と からなることを特徴とするエレクトロルミネセンス素子。 18.請求項17記載の素子において、陽極保護層の厚さが、10〜500 Åである素子。 19.請求項17または18記載の素子において、陽極および発光層のそれ ぞれの厚さが、500〜2000Åである素子。 20.請求項17乃至19のいずれかに記載の素子において、陽極がITO により形成される素子。 21.請求項17乃至20のいずれかに記載の素子において、陰極がアルミ ニウムまたはアルミニウム合金により形成される素子。 22.エレクトロルミネセンス素子の製造方法であって、 正の電荷注入材料からなる陽極を形成し、 陽極上に犠牲的な陽極保護層を形成し、 犠牲層の上に半導体共役重合体への前駆体を付着させ、 前記前駆体を半導体共役重合体へと変換して発光層を形成し、この変換工程の 際に、陽極保護層が変換の効果から陽極を保護すると共に、それ自体は消費され るものとし、 負の電荷注入材料からなる陰極を形成する 工程からなることを特徴とするエレクトロルミネセンス素子の製造方法。 23.発光半導体共役重合体への前駆体の変換の効果から有機発光素子の電 極を保護するための、有機発光素子の製造における電極保護層の使用方法であっ て、有機発光素子は第1および第2の電極からなり、発光重合体がこれらの間に 配置されることを特徴とする電極保護層の使用方法。 24.有機発光素子であって、 電極と、 変換された有機前駆体から形成された有機発光層と、 有機前駆体の変換の際に電極を保護するように電極と発光層との間に形成され た電極保護層と からなることを特徴とする有機発光素子。 25.有機発光素子の製造方法であって、 電極を付着させ、 電極上に電極保護層を付着させ、 発光材料のための有機前駆体の層を付着させ、 有機前駆体を発光材料へと変換する工程からなり、 有機前駆体の変換の際に、電極保護層により電極を保護することを特徴とする 有機発光素子の製造方法。
