6.前記遠隔ユニットから前記基地局に前記擬似距離を送信する段階をさらに含 み、前記基地局が、前記遠隔ユニットの位置を指示する緯度および経度を計算す ることを特徴とする請求項4に記載の方法。 7.前記衛星のエフェメリスを表すデータを含む前記衛星の衛星データ情報を前 記遠隔ユニットに送信する段階をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項4に記載の 方法。 8.前記衛星のエフェメリスを表すデータを含む前記衛星の衛星データ情報を前 記遠隔ユニットに送信する段階をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項5に記載の 方法。 9.移動ユニットの位置を与えるためにGPS信号を表すデータを使用する移動 ユニットにおいて、 前記移動ユニット内にあって、通信リンクを介して、前記移動ユニットの視野 の中にある複数の衛星の衛星暦情報を受け取るように結合可能な受信器と、 前記移動ユニット内にあって、前記衛星暦情報を受け取り、前記衛星暦情報か ら導き出したドップラー情報を使用して前記衛星の位置情報を計算するように前 記受信器に結合された処理ユニットと を含むことを特徴とする移動ユニット。 10.基地局を使用して、GPS移動ユニットに通信リンクを与える方法におい て、 前記GPS移動ユニットの視野の中にある複数の衛星の衛星暦情報を決定する 段階と、 ドップラー情報を決定するために前記GPS移動ユニットに前記衛星暦情報を 送信する段階と を含むことを特徴とする方法。 11.前記ドップラー情報が、前記衛星から前記基地局へのGPS信号のドップ ラー・シフトであることを特徴とする請求項10に記載の方法。 12.前記ドップラー情報が、前記衛星から前記GPS移動ユニットへのGPS 信号のおおよそのドップラー・シフトであることを特徴とする請求項11に記載 の方法。 13.前記ドップラー情報を前記基地局のGPS受信器から得ること、および前 記ドップラー情報が、前記衛星から前記基地局へのGPS信号のドップラー・シ フトであることを特徴とする請求項10に記載の方法。 14.前記ドップラー情報が、前記衛星から前記GPS移動ユニットへのGPS 信号のおおよそのドップラー・シフトであることを特徴とする請求項13に記載 の方法。 15.前記基地局が、前記GPS移動ユニットの位置を指示する緯度および経度 を獲得するように、前記基地局で、前記GPS移動ユニットから位置情報を受け 取る段階をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項14に記載の方法。 16.前記位置情報が、前記GPS移動ユニットの視野の中にある複数の衛星ま での擬似距離を含み、前記基地局が、前記擬似距離から前記緯度および経度を計 算することを特徴とする請求項15に記載の方法。 17.前記位置情報が、前記緯度および経度を含むことを特徴とする請求項15 に記載の方法。 18.前記衛星のエフェメリスを表すデータを含む前記衛星の衛星データ情報を 前記GPS移動ユニットに送信する段階をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項1 0に記載の方法。 19.処理ユニットが、前記ドップラー情報を使用して、前記衛星からのGPS 信号のドップラー・シフトを補償することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の方法。 20.前記処理ユニットが、前記ドップラー情報を使用して、前記衛星からのG PS信号のドップラー・シフトを補償することを特徴とする請求項9に記載の移 動ユニット。 21.前記通信リンクが無線周波通信媒体を含むことを特徴とする請求項20に 記載の移動ユニット。 22.前記処理ユニットに結合され、前記位置情報を送信する発信器をさらに含 むことを特徴とする請求項20に記載の移動ユニット。 23.前記位置情報が、前記移動ユニットの視野の中にある前記複数の衛星まで の擬似距離を含むことを特徴とする請求項22に記載の移動ユニット。 24.前記位置情報が、前記移動ユニットの位置を指示する緯度および経度を含 むことを特徴とする請求項22に記載の移動ユニット。 25.前記処理ユニットが、ディジタル信号処理集積回路(DSP)を含み、お よび前記DSPが、高速畳込みアルゴリズムを使用して前記GPS信号および前 記ドップラー情報を処理することを特徴とする請求項20に記載の移動ユニット 。 26.前記処理ユニットに結合され、前記位置情報を送信する発信器をさらに含 むことを特徴とする請求項25に記載の移動ユニット。 27.前記受信器が、前記衛星以外の発信源から前記衛星の衛星データ情報を受 け取るのに使用可能であり、および前記衛星データ情報が、前記衛星のエフェメ リスを表すデータを含むことを特徴とする請求項9に記載の移動ユニット。 28.GPS移動ユニットに通信リンクを提供する基地局において、 前記GPS移動ユニットの視野の中にある複数の衛星の衛星暦情報の発信源と 、 前記衛星暦情報の前記発信源に結合され、ドップラー情報を決定するために、 前記通信リンクを介して前記GPS移動ユニットに前記衛星暦情報を送信する発 信器と を含むことを特徴とする基地局。 29.前記衛星暦情報の前記発信源が、前記基地局に結合された記憶ユニットで あることを特徴とする請求項28に記載の基地局。 30.前記GPS移動ユニットから位置情報を受け取る受信器と、 前記受信器に結合されたプロセッサと を含むことを特徴とする請求項28に記載の基地局。 31.前記ドップラー情報が、前記衛星から前記基地局へのGPS信号のおおよ そのドップラー・シフトであることを特徴とする請求項28に記載の基地局。 32.前記基地局が、前記GPS移動ユニットの位置を指示する緯度および経度 を獲得するように、前記位置情報が、前記基地局で受け取られることを特徴とす る請求項30に記載の基地局。 33.前記位置情報が、前記GPS移動ユニットの視野の中の前記複数の衛星の うちの少くともいくつかの衛星までの擬似距離を含み、および前記基地局の前記 プロセッサが、前記擬似距離から、前記緯度および経度を計算することを特徴と する請求項32に記載の基地局。 34.前記発信器がさらに、前記衛星のエフェメリスを表わすデータを含む前記 衛星の衛星データ情報を前記GPS移動ユニットに送信することを特徴とする請 求項28に記載の基地局。 35.前記基地局および前記GPS移動ユニットが、互いから約150キロメー トル以内にあることを特徴とする請求項31に記載の基地局。 36.GPS移動受信器内の局部発振器を較正する方法において、 前記精密搬送周波数信号を供給する発信源から前記精密搬送周波数信号を受け 取る段階と、 前記精密搬送周波数信号に自動的にロックさせ、基準信号を供給する段階と、 GPS信号の取得に使用する前記局部発振器を前記基準信号で較正する段階と を含むことを特徴とする方法。 37.前記受け取る段階が、通信リンクを介して伝達された衛星データ情報を含 むデータ信号から前記精密搬送周波数信号を抜き出す段階を含むことを特徴とす る請求項36に記載の方法。 38.前記衛星データ情報が、前記GPS移動受信器の視野の中にある複数の衛 星の衛星暦情報を含むことを特徴とする請求項37に記載の方法。 39.前記衛星データ情報が、衛星のエフェメリスを表わすデータを含むことを 特徴とする請求項37に記載の方法。 40.前記通信リンクが、双方向ページャ・リンク、セルラ電話リンク、パーソ ナル通信システム、専門移動無線、および無線パケット・データ・システムから 成るグループから選択されることを特徴とする請求項37に記載の方法。 41.前記通信リンクが、無線周波通信媒体であることを特徴とする請求項37 に記載の方法。 42.前記自動周波数制御論理回路が、位相ロック・ループ、周波数ロック・ル ープ、ブロック位相推定器のうちの1つを含むことを特徴とする請求項36に記 載の方法。 43.前記基準信号が基準周波数を有し、これを、前記局部発振器によって与え られた周波数と比較して、前記局部発振器を較正することを特徴とする請求項4 2に記載の方法。 44.GPS信号を受け取る第1のアンテナと、 前記第1のアンテナに結合され、前記第1のアンテナから前記GPS信号を受 け取るダウンコンバータと、 前記ダウンコンバータに結合され、前記GPS信号を第1の周波数から第2の 周波数に変換するための第1の基準信号を前記ダウンコンバータに供給する局部 発振器と、 精密搬送周波数信号を供給する発信源から精密搬送周波数信号を受け取る第2 のアンテナと、 前記第2のアンテナに結合され、前記局部発振器の前記第1の基準信号を較正 するための第2の基準信号を、前記GPS信号の取得に使用される前記局部発振 器に供給する自動周波数制御(AFC)回路と を含むことを特徴とするGPS移動受信器。 45.前記AFC回路および前記局部発振器に結合され、前記第1の基準信号と 前記第2の基準信号とを比較して、前記局部発振器からの前記第1の基準信号の 周波数を調整する比較器をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項44に記載のGP S移動受信器。 46.前記AFC回路が、前記第2のアンテナに結合された受信器に結合された 位相ロック・ループを含むことを特徴とする請求項45に記載のGPS移動受信 器。 47.前記第2のアンテナに結合され、前記第2のアンテナを介して伝達された 衛星データ情報を含むデータ信号とともに前記精密搬送周波数信号を前記第2の アンテナから受け取る受信器をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項44に記載の GPS移動受信器。 48.前記衛星データ情報が、前記GPS移動受信器の視野の中の衛星のドップ ラー情報を含むことを特徴とする請求項47に記載のGPS移動受信器。 49.前記衛星データ情報が、前記GPS移動受信器の視野の中の複数の衛星の 識別、およびこれに対応した、前記GPS移動受信器の視野の中の複数の衛星の それぞれの衛星の複数のドップラー情報を含むことを特徴とする請求項48に記 載のGPS移動受信器。 50.前記衛星データ情報が、衛星のエフェメリスを表わすデータを含むことを 特徴とする請求項47に記載のGPS移動受信器。 51.基地局を使用して、GPS移動受信器内の局部発振器を較正する方法にお いて、 精密周波数を有する第1の基準信号を生成する段階と、 前記第1の基準信号をデータ信号で変調して、精密搬送周波数信号を提供する 段階と、 前記GPS移動受信器内にあってGPS信号の取得に使用される局部発振器の 較正に使用する前記精密搬送周波数信号を前記GPS移動受信器に送信する段階 と を含むことを特徴とする方法。 52.前記データ信号が、前記GPS移動受信器の視野の中の複数の衛星の衛星 暦情報を含む衛星データ情報を含むことを特徴とする請求項51に記載の方法。 53.前記データ信号が、衛星のエフェメリスを表わすデータを含む衛星データ 情報を含むことを特徴とする請求項51に記載の方法。 54.GPS移動受信器内の局部発振器を較正するために前記GPS移動受信器 内で使用される較正信号を供給する基地局において、 精密周波数を有する第1の基準信号の第1の発信源と、 前記第1の発信源および衛星データ情報の第2の発信源に結合され、精密搬送 周波数信号を供給する変調器と、 前記変調器に結合され、前記GPS信号の取得に使用される前記局部発振器を 較正するのに使用する前記精密搬送周波数信号を前記GPS移動受信器に送信す る発信器と を含むことを特徴とする基地局。 55.前記精密搬送周波数信号が、前記GPS信号の周波数とは実質的に異なる 第1の周波数を有することを特徴とする請求項54に記載の基地局。 56.前記衛星データ情報が、前記GPS移動受信器の視野の中の衛星のエフェ メリスを表わすデータを含むことを特徴とする請求項54に記載の基地局。 57.前記発信器に結合され、前記GPS移動受信器への送信を行なうよう前記 発信器に指示するプロセッサをさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項54に記載の 基地局。 58.前記プロセッサが、前記GPS移動受信器の視野の中にある複数の衛星を 決定し、前記複数の衛星のそれぞれの衛星の前記衛星データ情報を得、および前 記プロセッサが、前記複数の衛星の識別および前記衛星データ情報を前記GPS 移動受信器へ送信するよう前記発信器に指示することを特徴とする請求項57に 記載の基地局。 59.前記衛星データ情報が、前記複数の衛星のドップラー情報を含むことを特 徴とする請求項58に記載の基地局。 60.前記衛星データ情報が、前記複数の衛星のエフェメリスを表わすデータを 含むことを特徴とする請求項58に記載の基地局。 61.GPS移動受信器内で局部発振器信号を導き出す方法において、 精密搬送周波数信号を供給する発信源から前記精密搬送周波数信号を受け取る 段階と、 前記精密搬送周波数信号に自動的にロックさせ、基準信号を供給する段階と、 前記基準信号を使用して、GPS信号を収集するための局部発振器信号を供給 する段階と を含むことを特徴とする方法。 62.前記受け取る段階が、通信リンクを介して伝達された衛星データ情報を含 むデータ信号から前記精密搬送周波数信号を抜き出す段階を含むことを特徴とす る請求項61に記載の方法。 63.前記衛星データ情報が、前記GPS移動受信器の視野の中の複数の衛星の 衛星暦情報を含むことを特徴とする請求項62に記載の方法。 64.前記衛星データ情報が、衛星のエフェメリスを表わすデータを含むことを 特徴とする請求項62に記載の方法。 65.前記通信リンクが、双方向ページャ・リンク、セルラ電話リンク、パーソ ナル通信システム、専門移動無線、および無線パケット・データ・システムから 成るグループから選択されることを特徴とする請求項62に記載の方法。 66.前記通信リンクが無線周波通信媒体であることを特徴とする請求項62に 記載の方法。 67.前記基準信号を使用する前記段階が、前記基準信号を周波数シンセサイザ に供給する段階と、前記基準信号および前記周波数シンセサイザから前記局部発 振器信号を生成する段階とを含むことを特徴とする請求項61に記載の方法。 68.GPSアンテナを介して受け取ったGPS信号を前記局部発振器信号を使 用してダウンコンバートする段階をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項61に記 載の方法。 69.前記基準信号を使用する前記段階が、GPSアンテナを介して受け取った GPS信号を前記局部発振器信号を使用してダウンコンバートする段階をさらに 含むことを特徴とする請求項61に記載の方法。 70.GPS信号を受け取る第1のアンテナと、 前記第1のアンテナに結合され、前記第1のアンテナから前記GPS信号を受 け取るダウンコンバータであって、前記GPS信号を第1の周波数から第2の周 波数に変換するための局部発振器信号を受け取る入力を有するダウンコンバータ と、 精密搬送周波数信号を供給する発信源から精密搬送周波数信号を受け取る第2 のアンテナと、 前記第2のアンテナに結合された自動周波数制御(AFC)回路であって、前 記ダウンコンバータに結合され、前記GPS信号の取得に使用される前記局部発 振器信号を供給する自動周波数制御(AFC)回路と とを含むことを特徴とするGPS移動受信器。 71.前記AFC回路および前記ダウンコンバータに結合された周波数シンセサ イザをさらに含み、前記ダウンコンバータが、前記周波数シンセサイザを介して 前記局部発振器を受け取ることを特徴とする請求項70に記載のGPS移動受信 器。
